Relaxing distraction from Marrakech

We ate there tonight. A very nice meal, my wife had the beef Carpaccio (which she said was excellent) and I had the Moroccan starter. Mains, my wife has the Thai chicken and I have the beef tangine, both really tasty dishes, though am not sure the beef tangine was that authentic it was delicious... read more

The food and service was average. I felt that the staff were more interested in talking to the locals rather then looking after us tourists. The layout and lighting is nice, but I wouldnt call it romantic. The cost of the food is a true reflection of the quality of it,

I am a pretty picky person when it comes to food and rating restaurants. I look carefully at the quality of service, the cleanliness, the food, the atmosphere, how the dishes are served, i.e in the plates, etc. Amaia is definitely a nice place to go if you desire a nice full meal. Having stayed in marrakesh for a week... More

Had dinner last night at Amaia after reading good reviews and we were not dissapointed. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. We thought the portions were ample (especially the Farmers salad starter which was huge!) We finished our meal with an amazing cocktail. Our bill for 2 courses with soft drinks and a cocktail each was... More

We came here as one of our last restaurants during our stay in Marrakech and we were exceptionally thankful that we did. The food was to an excellent standard, the wine list was well chosen and the service - by the owner no less - was superb. A wonderful, quiet atmosphere which brings some sophistication to the excitable hubbub of... More

Following the good reviews for this restaurant, I went there with a couple of friends and we all enjoyed it. The food was pretty straight forward and simple. Everything was fresh with lots of flavours. Being keen on Asian food, we ordered pork & crab spring rolls, seabream tartar and also Prawn and calamari cooked in a Wok ... We... More

If you are so sick of Marrakech and or Marroccan food then get a flight home or go for a pizza. Amaia tries to fuse Thai with international cuisine and fails miserably on both counts. The spring rolls were dripping oil, the Wok dishes should have stayed in the wok (permanently) and well... the Phuket Salad read a book about... More

Dear Artalus, You take as a basis the assumption that we can be "so sick of Marrakech and or Moroccan food". Fortunately, many people come to discover or rediscover this beautiful city and its culture, without evidence of snobbery. At Amaia, we make no attempt to fuse cuisine. We "borrow" considered interesting recipes from local people, to be more as... More
