Simple food, well done, pleasant atmosphere

After a good meal in a posh restaurant (Le Foundouk in the North of the Medina), we fancied something simpler and cheaper. Previous reviewers have it right and many thanks to them pointing us here, but maybe none of us quite know how to allocate the stars! We had simple but very fresh and tasty... read more

Don't be put off by the "basic" look of the place, Oscar Progres is a proper gem. A couple minutes by walk from the main square, but placed in a secondary street: this means it's very easy to get there but also that only people that know where to look will find it. The food is probably the best we... More

Well located close to the main square, this small local 'cafe style' eaterie provides very simple, cheap local dishes. Don't expect anything smart. You eat at long benches alongside other diners, the service is straightforward, and the food tasty. We had vegetarian tagine and brochettes d'agneau, both of which were tasty. By no means 'haute cuisine ' but simple food... More

So, my wife and I stopped at this restaurant on our first night in Marrakech. The location is nice...as you're not in the main medan...which can be a bit overwhelming. Service was super quick. We ordered the vegetarian couscous and the kofte. Both were very good. No complaints here!

We were looking for a good, affordable tajine/couscous next to the main square but away from the tourist traps and this exactly what it was. There is a fairly cheap 100 dirham set menu but I wasn't too hungry so I just took a vegetarian couscous which was very fresh and good, could have done with more sauce though. Very... More

Tried this place when we first arrived in Morocco and the food was excellent. Ended up returning several times when we came back to Marrakech as after having sampled different tajines most days for a month we still felt this place was among the best

This was a great place to have some traditional local food near the main square away from the tourist traps. The price was excellent value as well!

Four course meal for 100 dirhams recommended to us and we are happy to recommend it to you Lots of the locals eat here which is always a good sign. We ordered differently and both enjoyed our selection. Steak and chips and Kofta Tagine very nice as were the chicken skewers.

This is a place to go when looking for a good, clean restaurant near the main square with no hassle. It's easy to reach. It reminded me of a working class restaurant in France or Italy: a large counter where meats and salads are on display and long tables. A TV ran the daily parliament. I really liked the menu...
