Description: Rick's Cafe Casablanca is a restaurant, bar and cafe located in the city...
Rick's Cafe Casablanca is a restaurant, bar and cafe located in the city of Casablanca, Morocco. Opened March 1, 2004, the place was designed to recreate the bar made famous by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the movie classic Casablanca. Set in an old courtyard-style mansion built against the walls of the Old Medina of Casablanca, the restaurant - piano bar is filled with architectural and decorative details reminiscent of the film: curved arches, a sculpted bar, balconies, balustrades as well as beaded and stencilled brass lighting and plants that cast luminous shadows on white walls. There is an authentic 1930's Pleyel piano and As Time Goes By is a common request to the in-house pianist

Humphrey Bogart was not here!

While this cafe was NOT in the movie, "Casablanca," but it does have much memorabilia from the film including a continuous running of the movie on a TV in the upstairs bar. Food was very good and the setting is charming.

My colleague and I visited on a Wednesday evening during a business stay in Casablanca. The service and food were both fantastic. The environment is incredible. There was a piano / saxophone duo playing that night. Kathy, the owner, was there walking around talking to everyone. Recommend the goat cheese and fig appetizer. Both the filet mignon and spaghetti dishes... More

I was really looking forward to visiting Rick's Café while in Casablanca, but found it to be a disappointing experience. Although it did reflect the décor from the movie, it was very small and the atmosphere wasn't appealing. Nice for a drive-by photo op but don't bother going inside!

We combined our lunch here with a visit to Hassan II Mosque visit. Waiters speak English and you are welcome to take photos. Drinks, service and food excellent. Be sure to visit the restrooms on second floor for photo ops and view from above. A real thrill if you are a movie buff!

If you want a sophisticated dining experience on the edge of the Medina, Rick's Cafe is worth a stop. Beautifully restored raid with a hint of the movie atmosphere. The menu is varied and interesting, service is attentive and excellent, the bar is well stocked and there is live piano in the evening. Make sure you save room for dessert... More

This spectacular venue is a must on any visit to Casa. The staff are fantastic and the cuisine is of excellent quality and extremely well presented. I've been on numerous occasions but always take the opportunity to introduce new colleagues to the 'Rick's Cafe Experience'. Not cheap and it's cost me plenty over the years but worth every penny!

Had dinner at thé Ricks Café with friends. A nice little restaurant near thé port and thé médina. The place is very simple. Decorated like all riad just much simpler. The menu was okay and so was thé food. Nothing fancy. The prices were reasonable. The night we had dinner, there was à pianiste and à saxophonist. Quite nice. The... More

The interior blows you away, beautiful mauresque stucco, lanterns etc... All interbellum colonial style. Music from that period makes it come alive. Food is very fresh and quite good, lovely side dishes (Brussels sprouts with pistachios, celery and carrots stir fried with chili pepper and cumin) And we had loads of cocktails, which spiced up the bill. But overall still... More

The cafe was a pleasant surprise as we had not planned to go there thinking "tourist trap", but were persuaded by other fellow travelers. The decor of Rick's is stunningly gorgeous and the location is nicely tucked away. A charming place to sip mint tea and gather your thoughts in Casablanca. Everything we had to eat was exquisite!

Spending a week in Casablanca definitely cured me of my romanticized visions of the city based on the famous movie. Even to get to this restaurant we had to go through some rough neighbourhoods with poor houses and rubbish thrown all over the street. But this place is like a little gem and It was all me & my hubby... More
