Great restaurant

This is a very fine restaurant although it was a little bit hard to find. The restaurant's full name is "El DJenina" starting with a D. You might be lucky to sit next to a world leader or a local ambassador. Better book a table before coming.

Some very tasty dishes on the menu here. Even the little cover-appetisers are a treat. But the prices are too high and some of the male waiters are a bit forward and rather amateurish.

I had a wonderful dinner at Jenina. When you first walk in, you're immediately transported from the busy, noisy street outside to a calm and exclusive setting within the restaurant. The food is great, and I really enjoyed my meal here - a definite first-choice for any future visits to Algiers.

I recently visited Algiers and was lucky to have been invited to this restaurant. I subsequently returned one more time. The Décor is definitely Arabic style and wonderfully decorated. Impeccably clean, the lady owner is a professional, non obtrusive and very attentive to her clients needs. The waiters are attentive and know what they are doing. The food, especially the... More

I was wowed by the deco, algerian-andalousian style! The soup is just wonderful, the best soup I have ever eaten ! The Chakhchoukha as well was very very delicious ! If you are in Algiers you cannot miss Jenina. In addition, the location is really very good, in the heart of Algiers, near two museums (Bardo and Islamic museum), near... More

prices are not too bad (say 2000 for a main course) and the soups are good (as per previous reviews) but once you stray into fish territory it gets steep - one John Dory came to 9000 DZD. Wines ok, they have Koutoubia and Blanc d'Aboukir although the waiters (civilised decent starch-shirted chaps) did try to foist the Cuvee du... More

If you are visiting Algiers, you cannot miss Jenina! The interior is beautiful, in traditional Arabic style, nicely renovated - I had impression to be in the palace of One Thousand and One Nights. It is worth to go to this restaurant at least to spend time in such a nice entourage. Service was impeccable - quick, professional and friendly.... More

I know the place very well about a dozen visits over the past 10 years and I can say the place can be spectacular but also just average sometimes. If you are looking for traditional Algerian food in a nice setting, this is the place to go! Try the traditional tomato soup Chorba with bourek, a sort of fried dumpling... More

It is quite rare walking into a restaurant that you instantly know you are up for a great meal. Jenina gives you that exact feeling. Several Algerian friends suggested Jenina for a good hearty traditional Algerian meal and recommended that I book given that its a place favored by expats and diplomats and get quite busy at night. On ringing... More
