Our meal was decent, as was the service. We had a birthday in our party and they brought over a free piece of pie, despite being told that they don't do that anymore, so that was very nice. My Tomato Basil soup was delicious, but my smothered chicken and potato pancakes were very bland. The Hawaiian Strawberry pie is a... More

We actually have been to this place twice, and both times the food was excellent, and the serving sizes were perfect. We typically split a meal and we had lunch there on Mothers Day weekend, it was great! The cinnamon rolls are delicious just like everything else we had there.

I have found the service to be somewhat spotty, but always forgive them because the food is so good.

We stopped at this Village Inn while traveling through the area. Not really knowing anything about the restaurant, but trusting the chain name, we decided to give it a try. Our experience was, in a word, average. We had a party of six, and were seated within a few minutes, something that is nice. Our server was extremely friendly and... More

I love pork chops & eggs ..they had 2 large & juicy chops along with the eggs and hash browns. My wife had hot oatmeal & a muffin ( She's the healthy one) liked that they had dried cranberries in the oatmeal instead of raisins

Quick service, no unruly kids. Better food and prices than IHOP. The hash browns were some of the best I have ever had, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, not greasy at all. Great omelet and pancakes!

We went for supper about 6:30, lots of empty tables and booths. Had to stand quite awhile to get seated even, the guy that seats people was running around helping the waitress. Shortly a waitress came over, said something we didn't understand, she walked away, went over and looked at the seating chart, that was it. A different waitress came... More

We have been going to this VI for approximately a year now. The morning cook has some serious issues. Even when times are slow- the food is average at best. We ordered a breakfast meal and a soup & sandwich meal on 3 different occaisions. Every time the bread for the sandwich was hard & dry. Sounds like they made... More

VI has always been one of the better breakfast joints in Iowa. Been going there across Iowa since I was probably under the age of 10. I'm now 33. Ankeny's version is no different.
