Incredible Brunch and Desserts!

We stopped here twice on a recent trip. We bought a few desserts to go and they were all incredible! Their selection was excellent and we were able to purchase our items and head out quickly even though they were busy. We also had brunch here a different day and I'm still dreaming about the lemon... read more

If you like a special place to go that offers something for everyone the Café is the place to go! Not only is the cheesecake divine but you should try their Basil Buttermilk salad dressing, it's outstanding!!!

When we moved to town, I was discontent for quite some time, missing the place we had just left which was a foodie's heaven. But, the Cafe has helped me make peace with Ames. The food is excellent; the atmosphere is excellent. I especially enjoy Cafe breakfasts with light, fluffy omelets, strong coffee (ask for the dark roast if that's... More

The food is always good, althought your favorite may not be on the menu the next time you are there. The tomato basil soup is very good. The Cuban sandwich is my favorite, however i haven't been able to find it on the menu the last couple of visits. All of the bakery items are fantastic. The carrot cake is... More

My wife and I enjoy this restaurant, which we believe to be one of the best in Ames. The food is fine but there is a limited menu. The other negative (for us, at least) is the low light level in many areas of the restaurant. However, the cost is reasonable for the quality of food, there are excellent baked... More

Very limited menu. It is hard for picky eaters to find something they like. Not a restaurant for kids.

The Cafe has modern, relatively healthy food, but there's always a wait, no reservations & not much or any flexibility if you try for early seating: even 5 minutes early. For dinner, the best bet is to arrive at 5 pm for dinner & plan to eat by 5:30. The wait might be worth it if you enjoy fire roasted... More

We've heard so much about this cafe so decided to give it a try. We were there on a Thur night at 5. We didn't have wait, but did end up seated in a tucked away table in the bakery. The menu is very limited. One of the diners had dietary restrictions and asked for no sauce and double order... More

I went to 'The Cafe' for breakfast and had to wait 5 minutes to be seated, this despite multiple staff walking right past me with no regard. However, the negative ends there. Once I was seated, the service was prompt and amicable. The environment is not well lit (by design) and very classy. It makes for a great dining experience.... More
