We visited The Café and Dublin Bay two days apart and found that their top 5 ratings in Ames completely justified. At the café we found everyone pleasant, knowledgeable and professional, the food interesting and different, Parking was easy, at 12:45 just a short wait for a comfortable table. A little difficult to find, but worth the trip. Other good... More

The Ceviche was very good and had a little bite to it. Our main courses of lamb pasta dish and grilled hanger steak were both cooked to perfection. The pasta was al dente and the steak was medium rare just like it was ordered. The dessert options are fabulous. We will definitely return.

I tried this place in Ames for dinner in July and it was very nice, so I went there the following day for lunch too. As a started I had the ceviche, that was nice but not as good as others that I have tried elsewhere. For the main course, I had the Eat More Kale salad, which it was... More

I have eaten at the Cafe pretty much since they opened, being from the area. Since I use TripAdvisor frequently, I felt compelled to share (perhaps to my own detriment) how amazing the food is here. My only complaint is I find everywhere else I eat lacking now. :) And, they are definitely no secret in Ames anymore. That being... More

We met some relatives/friends for a first-time visit to this restaurant and enjoyed a delightful dinner. We were particularly impressed with the freshness of all the ingredients. We all enjoyed "The California" a sandwich that included wood/grilled salmon, green goddess aioli, avocado, tomato, arugula, ciabattani + salad green. It was wonderful!

I have gone to The Cafe many times now, and I still believe it is one of the nicest restaurants in Ames! They have a great brunch menu and they often times have a large portion of their lunch and dinner menu that rotates depending on the time of year. If you have the opportunity to, it's a great place... More

We've been eating at this great place for more than three years. The menu changes often, always offering new dishes. Unfortunately, that may mean that something you had loved on an earlier visit won't be available again. But the new items are almost never a disappointment. Entering through the front door, one's eyes are immediately drawn to the pastry/dessert case.... More

We went based on the reviews here. Either these are written by employees or the rest of the restaurants in Ames really suck. VERY limited menu -1 style burger, steak, chicken sandwich,. No variety. Very average steak and personal pizza was not good (proving it IS possible to screw up pizza). No refill on drinks if you have even partial... More

If you recommend this place to your group, you'll have no regrets. Everyone in our group was satisfied and vowed to come back here the next time we're in Ames. All of our plates looked and tasted good.

This place is a must when I travel to Ames for business. The breakfast is amazing. The dinner is incredible. They always have fresh new choices for the seasons. I have yet to have a meal there that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. The desserts are equally great and definitely recommend adding one to your dinner!
