I have been here twice and enjoyed it both times. The food is great. Tables are spaced so that each party has some privacy and the noise level allows for conversations. Our most recent visit was for lunch. I had a french onion soup which was wonderful.

Latest menu has the return of Korean Steak and Eggs; one of my all time favorites at The Cafe. Only thing that would have made it better is if they'd have had Butterscotch pot de creme available for dessert.

The hostess was unprofessional, I would fire her. And don't come before 5 because they are Communists and won't let you eat. Hate it.

I travel a lot and this is my favorite restaurant. Service is great. The menu is short but it is changed every few weeks. The desserts are fresh, flaky and delicious. The cafe uses local produce, meat and eggs when available.

This was our first time here..Heck, it was our first time in Ames...Wife had the Mahi Mahi tostada special which was excellent...I had the flank steak which was also excellent. Service was excellent, Love these friendly Iowans. Would definitely come back.

VERY high quality food, amazing service, and a gorgeous atmosphere at really fair prices. By far my favorite restaurant in Ames. I'm pretty sure I've tasted half their menu, and literally EVERYTHING is to die for!

At busiest times, Sunday mornings, the wait can approach half an hour. However, the preparation, the plating, the knowledge of the servers, the freshness of the dishes, all approach perfection. At times the menu can be a bit limited, but the quality reigns supreme.

The location is convenient to the ISU campus. Decor is casual, warm and comfortable. We all had steaks and agreed they were well cooked and flavorful, but were not quite lean enough. Garlic mashed potatoes were terrific, as were the mushrooms served with our steaks. Portions were generous, but not outrageous in size (other than the mac and cheese). We... More

Delicious dinner for a great price. The variety of menu choices will be sure to have something for everyone. Try the grilled cauliflower appetizer with tzatziki. Loved the vegetable chilaquiles with eggplant and peppers and an egg sunny side up! We also tried the Mac and cheese that they are known for but we were less than impressed. If you... More
