Great outdoor seating in spring/summer/fall and excellent soup, sandwiches, crepes, breakfast items. A great place for a drink as well.
I visited Stomping Grounds on a Friday afternoon to enjoy the live music, tasty food and some wine on a beautiful evening. The atmosphere is lively and the wine is delicious. The music was a little intrusive at times but the it is to be expected. We enjoyed a few appetizers; bruschetta, olive tapenade and a cheese plate. To top... More
Had a very good panini and the cold beer I had wasn't bad either will return here when we visit our son again
Coffee was superior, very good service. Could work well for kids, nice outdoor seating. Had the french toast which was very good.
This is a great little place near the campus at Iowa State. They have an expansive outdoor deck, and the interior is very Scandinavian. Blond woods and simple, but tasteful. The food and service here are both really great, and it is a wonderful place to spend part of a summer evening.
You have to know where to look to find Stomping Grounds because there is no sign to indicate its location. But...once you do it's great. The wine list is extensive, there is outside seating and live music on the deck sometimes. A highlight: Croque Monsieur better than what you can find in Paris due to its crunchiness and freshness. Went there for a lunch meeting with a friend and found it to be a very nice coffee house and Restaurant. They serve good sandwiches, salads, and a variety of other foods. We had a very nice working lunch and enjoyed the food. They also have a large variety of coffee and teas.
This is a great place to relax, have a cup of coffee or a pint of beer. It's a local hang out as well as a good place to get something delicious to eat. The patio is great. The interior is sparse but cozy. The atmosphere is young and relaxed. You can't go wrong here. CW
Really love the ambiance. Check when will be the time for live performance, go at that time. have your meal outside. You won't regret it.
I checked this place out on my first trip to Ames as I wanted some local flair. The breakfast and coffee were both good and the service was extremely friendly. I had the crepe combo with egg and bacon and a nice Bolivian coffee. I would recommend it as a great introduction to the menu. I'll be back!
