We have had many yummy lunches over the last few years, but our dinner tonight was awful. The place was nearly deserted at 6:30, but we waited 25 minutes for our salads to arrive. My salad was an uninspired 10 dollar chopped salad....small portion, no crackers, bread, or presentation. Hubby had the special-- taco salad. The bowl was overlooked, tough,... More

Our family met here for the Father's Day Brunch. Unfortunately, many of the items were not always available, it was difficult to determine what the choices were, especially for the desserts, and we had to ask frequently for clean plates or unavailable items. Most items, except the desserts which were not impressive at all, were good, but not exceptional. And... More

Visited the pub. Had the Olde Main burger with a Sodbuster. Burger was cooked well. Atmosphere was relaxed.

The beer was so-so; I ordered the lager, and it was almost too flat. No head at all. I thought about sending it back, but drank it anyway. Flavor was OK, though. I ordered the salmon sandwich, and was surprised how small it was. The piece of salmon was about the size of a deck of cards, and it was... More

Ours meals were excellent. My wife had the tortellini which is their signature dish and was simply to die for. My steak was done exactly as ordered. The beer was simply outstanding. The waitress was kind and accommodating to our children. I would definitely eat here again if we return to Ames.

Beer is really good,. Good collection of whiskey. Food is good Iowa food, served hot and presented well. Like most Ames restaurants, service was off, but they tried and cared about our satisfaction. Overall, best casual restaurant in Ames.

Went here looking for a nice meal. I got the beef brisket. It had good flavor but the portion size was very small.. If portion size is what's your looking for good luck...

Bad beer, terrible food, terrible service. Owner was a complete jerk. Space is cool, but it smells like a dirty college bar.

Been there twice since they opened, and the beer hasn't improved. Apparently the root beer is OK. It's hard to judge the food with the bad beer taste, but the service matched the beer.

I'm a local and have been here 5 or 6 times over the years since it opened. Each time I swear I'm never going back. Tonight our server gave us the wrong food, then came back 3 time to confirm our order because she wasn't familiar with tonight's menu. My meat was dry and my wife's blackened prime rib pasta... More
