Aunt Maudes is one of my favorite restaurants in Ames. The Chili Cured Filet is so good! And you cannot go wrong with the peanut butter pie

I have been here over the years and it was hit or miss. It is a great place to meet friends for either drinks or coffee and bruschetta at the bar which is separate from the dining room. I went on Valentine's Day with my husband, in the dining room, looking forward to an extraordinary event. They couldn't find the... More

My first time in Ames, my friend said that Aunt Maudes was the best sit down establishment in Ames. This evening I went to try it out with two friends and was hoping for a wonderful dinner. Upon arrival, we had called in early in case of a rush. We were seated right upon arrival, but the hostess made a... More

We visited here with our son who is a student at Iowa State, this place is awesome! It is very quaint and the food is exceptional. The Chili Cured Filet and it was one of the best I have ever had, both my son and husband had the salmon and raved about it. We are glad he has 3 years... More

Have eaten here many times, this time, not good. Started with the Bloody Mary, that only had a celery stalk, not the freshest. When asked about pickle and/or olive, told they no longer carried the pickle, but brought a bowl of very blah, nasty olives. What kind of eating establishment doesn't carry pickles? Three of us, in the party ordered... More

I found Maude's to be an excellent choice for dining in Ames! I went with a group of colleagues and we ordered the truffle fries for an appetizer and they were amazing. They also gave us homemade potato chips and they were really good. I had the french onion soup and the tequila fettuccine and was very pleased. The service... More

My friends and I had heard about Maude's and wanted to see if it was a good as they say. We got there about 7:00 and had a 30 wait I'd we wanted a table. We chose to sit at the bar and wait for our table. The bartenders were fanatic. Very attentive even with a full bar. When are... More

Menu has assortment of fish, steak, sandwiches, and food is good. Prices range from $30+ to sandwich for $12 or so. Quiet place - great for dates etc. Not really a place to bring kids. Quaint bar.

An impromptu trip to Ames lead me to Aunt Maude's. The menu I viewed online had a couple of scallop dishes that had me interested. When we arrived, the there were no scallops on the menu. They change out their menu frequently, and had a couple of swordfish dishes. I had the cilantro crusted swordfish on a tamale cake with... More
