Always Amazing

This restaurant is definitely an Ames local favorite! The food is always prepared to perfection. One really cannot go wrong with ordering anything on the menu. An all-time favorite, however, is the tequila chicken fettuccine - a must if you haven't had previously!

I have been to this place many times and even ordered takeout, which is just as tasty as dining in. I have ordered many things here but am partial to the blackened chicken on angel hair pasta, so I usually order it. I have had both lunch and dinner here but seem to enjoy eating lunch here a bit more.

I like Aunt Maude's because they serve consistently wonderful food, with excellent service in a quiet and relaxing environment. I especially like the "Bistro" specials- these are smaller servings of some of their most popular entrees. You can eat luxuriously or simply at Aunt Maude's but the food will be delicious on either end of the price spectrum.

Wonderful food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. When the weather is nice their outdoor patio is a wonderful place to enjoy a drink or dinner.

You can always count on a tasty meal when you dine at Aunt Maude's. The environment is dim, quiet and relaxed.

Wonderful quiet atmosphere, great food and service. The waiter was great in helping me make choices and I enjoyed everything he suggested. If I ever have occasion to visit Ames again, I would not hesitate to come back. A bit pricey, but very nice.

Ames is not known for it's excellence in restaurants but I consider Aunt Maude's to be the best the town has to offer. The food is varied - menu often changes. Reservations help. Cost is comparable to Perkins but the food is far superior. A little difficult to find the first time - on Main Street more or less across... More

We visit Aunt Maude's for our special occasions, with our 30th anniversary being the excuse for our May 2015 visit. We were disappointed on several fronts. You can almost always bank on the six-week specials they offer, but the chipotle swordfish was over-bathed in the chipotle sauce. A drizzled plate would have been better. Other than that, the swordfish, itself,... More

Ames is not known as the hotbed for fine dining (no offense Ames,) and we were searching fro something more casual than not... we stumbled across Maude's and were quite impressed. Small, quiet, private atmosphere allowed for easy conversation. Full bar, nice salmon appetizer, and warm bread throughout made this a full course meal. The pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes... The scotch pours were delicious but came with big-city prices. We choose two appetizers: the BBQ shrimp and croquettes. If your order the shrimp, be prepared for salad shrimp in a strange-tasting cream sauce to be spooned over baguette slices. The waitress said it's quite popular, but for us one bite was enough. The croquettes were bland. Most of our... More
