Fine dining

Ames' finest dining. Good menu, relaxed atmosphere. Its not cheap but not outrageous. Friendly staff and great menu. A nice place to take your significant other to for a nice night out.

Back in the day Aunt Maude's was the funky fresh place to go with food nobody had ever seen before and new stuff nobody else would try to make. Remember the joke about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for $25?…when $25 was an absurd amount of money to spend on dinner? I'm talking 1970's through the 80's. Hell I... More

Aunt Maude's in one of several restaurants in the Main Street area downtown with plenty of free parking in nearby lots. Food was decent, but could have been better. I ordered the ginger beef tips expecting a more gingery experience; instead, it was merely beef tips with a few slices of pickled ginger on top, just like you'd get with... More

Always excellent food and service. My favorite restaurant in Ames. They buy local as much as they can, so food is very fresh.

The menu here is more limited and less focused than when it used to feature French cuisine, but it is still one of the few choices for decent dining on Main Street. After the efficient young server took our orders, we were brought a basket of tasty house-made chips sprinkled with a generous amount of salt and cracked pepper. When... More

It was excellent with great atmosphere. I was part of a group of 6. We had reservations. We ate inside but there was a patio. I had the tequila chicken. Service excellent.

We sat out front on a warm night and watched the trains go by. Food was good and service was excellent. This is obviously the local hot spot. If you're driving through Ames - this is a great place to grab lunch or dinner.

I found Aunt Maud's on TripAdvisor looking for something exceptional. It could be easy to overlook or miss this little bistto-like restaurant in Downtown Ames. There was ample parking for early diners. I was greeted warmly and given a nice private little booth. Service was prompt, not rushed. My food was great but for ordering blackening on prime rib that... More

This restaurant is definitely an Ames local favorite! The food is always prepared to perfection. One really cannot go wrong with ordering anything on the menu. An all-time favorite, however, is the tequila chicken fettuccine - a must if you haven't had previously!

I have been to this place many times and even ordered takeout, which is just as tasty as dining in. I have ordered many things here but am partial to the blackened chicken on angel hair pasta, so I usually order it. I have had both lunch and dinner here but seem to enjoy eating lunch here a bit more.
