I visit this place on a weekly basis for breakfast. If you come before the crowd, the breakfast is nice and service fine. My only gripes are the servers who a.) come to work with dirty cloth already and b.) who handle my glass or mug with their fingers around were I want to put my mouth...disgusting and a reason... My octogenarian parents enjoy the Village Inn, especially when on a road trip as was the case this past weekend. My mother loved the potato pancakes, my father had a fish dinner with plenty for takeaway. Seating was efficient, our waitress used the pat and ineffective reply, "I have no idea" when asked a question beyond her reach - unwilling... More

I have been to this location several times over the last few months and order the same thing every time; the California Skillet. This skillet says it comes with eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, spinach, onions, mushrooms avocado and hollandaise sauce. I have ordered the skillet at least four times and each time it is prepared incorrectly. The first time I ordered... More

They always are willing to make special things not on the menu. Try the chocolate chip pancakes!! Manager was helpful and chipped in to help when everyone else was busy.

When I was there last, it was looking just a little tired. The service was only average and the food was acceptable. I have been to much better Village Inns down in Arizona and was a little disappointed at the dining experience here.

Several years ago food and service here was shoddy at best. Even the physical appearance of the store just wasn't up to par. Then they got a new manager and everything changed. I went in this week. The food was good (and I'm picky), the service was very good and friendly. Service was a bit slow both times I went... More

My spouse and I stopped into the Village Inn in Ames for breakfast on a Sunday. We expected there to be a bit of a wait, and there was. However, the dining room was totally disorganized. The hostess was trying to take names, check on the status of available tables, call names and escort customers to their table AND run... More

I used to go to the Ames Village Inn and enjoy the service, food and smell of fresh brewed coffee. After a long day of my granddaughter's dance dress rehearsals, my daughter, son-in-law and my husband and I looked forward to a good meal. We waited several minutes to be greeted and seated, and 20 minutes before a server approached... More

Fox News is not what I want to see when I'm eating! I was told by the server that they could not turn it off. It's too bad that this long-time Ames restaurant is no longer a pleasant place to be.
