We have been here off and on for more than 5 years now. Thr food and service have declined rapidly. This last time was not good at all. The black and tans were delivered burnt swimming in grease. I had the fish and chips. The chips were also burnt and the fish was mushy not crispy beer battered. My husband... More

While I was a little disappointed in this restaurant, but I would go back again to try something else. My friend had the shepherd's pie and it was so peppery she couldn't eat it. I had the corned beef and cabbage and the cabbage was a little peppery, but still good. The corned beef serving was massive. I brought home... More

Top five billing in Ames Iowa completely justified. Easy to get to, good parking, a little dark inside, but that's part of the ambience. Food outstanding; wonderful, new flavors for us to try; helpful, pleasant, knowledgeable waiter to help us through the intricacies of menu items and later to chase after us to bring a sweater we had left behind.... We went here on the recommendation of the staff at our hotel, and got a big kick out of the atmosphere and menu. So many fun British appetizers and entrees to try, and the beer menu was really extensive as well! I had the fish and chips which was really nicely prepared, and my son had the reuben which was... I didn't come here for dinner, but for a drink at a bar. First off I would like to say that I do not want to go to a bar where the barkeep is dressed poorly. I also do not like loud bars with a lot of people. If that is what you are looking for then this is the... More

My son and I stopped in for dinner. I really wanted to try one of the boxty's but it was so hot outside I couldn't think of eating something that heavy. So I had a rueben which was excellent. The marble rye was delicious and had a very generous amount of corned beef. My son had the steak and the... More

Good food, good people, fun environment. Prices are very reasonable, and we've never had a negative experience. We even had our son's rehearsal dinner here last year! Well worth the bit of a wait if you don't have reservations.

I enjoy Irish cuisine and make a point of checking out most restraunts that advertise Irish food as a focus. So, I have eaten at many "Irish" restraunts all around the country. Without reservation, this is one of the best Irish restraunts I have eaten at anywhere outside of Ireland. Both the fresh and fried versions of the soda bread... More
