Top five billing in Ames Iowa completely justified. Easy to get to, good parking, a little dark inside, but that's part of the ambience. Food outstanding; wonderful, new flavors for us to try; helpful, pleasant, knowledgeable waiter to help us through the intricacies of menu items and later to chase after us to bring a sweater we had left behind.... We went here on the recommendation of the staff at our hotel, and got a big kick out of the atmosphere and menu. So many fun British appetizers and entrees to try, and the beer menu was really extensive as well! I had the fish and chips which was really nicely prepared, and my son had the reuben which was... I didn't come here for dinner, but for a drink at a bar. First off I would like to say that I do not want to go to a bar where the barkeep is dressed poorly. I also do not like loud bars with a lot of people. If that is what you are looking for then this is the... More

My son and I stopped in for dinner. I really wanted to try one of the boxty's but it was so hot outside I couldn't think of eating something that heavy. So I had a rueben which was excellent. The marble rye was delicious and had a very generous amount of corned beef. My son had the steak and the... More

Good food, good people, fun environment. Prices are very reasonable, and we've never had a negative experience. We even had our son's rehearsal dinner here last year! Well worth the bit of a wait if you don't have reservations.

I enjoy Irish cuisine and make a point of checking out most restraunts that advertise Irish food as a focus. So, I have eaten at many "Irish" restraunts all around the country. Without reservation, this is one of the best Irish restraunts I have eaten at anywhere outside of Ireland. Both the fresh and fried versions of the soda bread... More

Always friendly staff, consistently good food, great moscow mules and a nice patio make this place a go-to standard in Ames. Whether we sit outside, in the bar area or the dining room, we have always had good service. This place has such a fun vibe and is great for both a dinner with friends or a family meal with... More

The food was great. No complaints about the food from our group of 5. The soda bread with the maple butter was great, as were the cheese balls (different from your normal cheese balls, but very good). One employee interrupted our conversation to hurriedly tell us something about the food (we were talking amongst ourselves about what to order, not... More

Our hotel staff recommended Dublin Bay. Apparenlty it's highly rated in the community. It's extremely dark inside - outdated and kind of depressing. Our food was fair - I'd never go back nor recommend it.
