My son in law and myself went in for Pizza on Friday night. Fast order taking. Had the Thin wheat crust... Topping were generous,. Pizza was very good. Garlic Toast was very good. Loved the funky atmosphere. When they got to a point where the wait for pizza was going to be long they put a sign up for customers... More

Found Great Plains on the recommendation of several friends. We were not quite hungry enough for pizza for lunch so we ordered sandwiches. The bread for the sandwiches was excellent and the sandwich content was fresh (I had turkey with various fixings). We found a nice, quiet booth. By the time we left, the place was really filling up and... More

Traveled to Ames for a conference and wanted to check out local restaurants and no chains. This was recommended and it was very good. The Denver, wheat crust was recommended and was a fairly thick crust that is eaten last with honey. Plenty of sauce and toppings. The restaurant itself is very small, a little dark and I could have... More

Came here from out of town after an ISU game. Came from out of town and went on friends recommendation. Was good pizza. Sauce was on the bland side but the crust was good. Cooked to a good crispy bottom. Get the Denver style crust which is their specialty.

Sooooo good! We ordered ahead and ate in. Great thick crust pizza. There's an order window, then you find your own seat....no servers when I was there on a Sunday for lunch.

The thin crust is chewy and bland. The thick crust overwhelms everything. It is midwestern pizza. It is ok and nothing bad will happen to you if you order it. The place is really cute, though, and it is one of the few places to east downtown.

They have been around for decades and continue to make a great pizza. I first had there pizza back in the mid 1980's and fell in love with it. The thick wheat crust pizza is the one I love most. Very filling and great to save some crust and put the honey on it. The restaurant itself if old and... More

I have gone here a couple of times now, and every time I have never received what I have ordered under a hour! Both times were week nights, so I could have just caught them on off nights, but it seemed odd that it took them that long to make a pizza!

Food is amazing and very filling. I have to come here on an empty stomach otherwise I can't eat more than 1 slice. I always get the wheat crust and have not been disappointed. Pizza is also very cheesy. Every time I'm in Ames, I always try to eat here.

I found this place rated number three among all restaurants in Ames by Trip Advisor. It doesn't deserve it. The pizza is okay. It's not bad, but it's not fantastic either. I had a pepperoni and sausage pizza with the house specialty Denver crust. This is a whole-wheat crust. I just don't think it goes well with pizza. I didn't... More
