On a recent visit to The Amana Colonies I stopped in at The Ox Yolk Inn because of a recommendation by a tour escort. The restaurant is charming and inviting. The wait staff was helpful and friendly. I ordered the Wiener Schnitzel and my wife ordered a cobb salad. Both were very good. The best part, however, was when our... More

Atmosphere was wonderful. Food was outstanding. The owner came to our table to introduce himself and we thought that's was great. We would definitely eat here again.

We visited the Ox Yoke Inn for the first time ever after being told we HAD to go there when we visited the Amanas. The meal I had gave me mixed reviews. First off, we were told everything is served family style. Wrong. You choose either a plated dinner or family style and family style is around $2-$3 more expensive... More

Food is always good (make sure to try the German potato salad.) Service is always excellent and though always busy they do have a large seating area. They also serve their local wines and beer. The bar area downstairs often has entertainment.

Service was excellent, waitress was super. Had the fried chicken and it was average. My wife had the sandwich that looked like a rueben but had several different meats and grilled onions on it which was fantastic.

I've been eating at Ox Yoke Inn since I was little girl. My grandparents live about 30 minutes from Main Amana and it was always a nice treat to dine on some family style German cuisine when visiting them. You could order anything off the menu and not be disappointed. The broccoli salad and cottage cheese are delicious. And of... More

I did not find that the restaurant provided authentic german cuisine. I was hoping to find something that I could not find in any other US city. They did not have any german beers on tap, but did have Franzsikaner in a bottle. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was cute, but just lacking something that set it... More

Arrived in Amana at our B&B just on 7.00pm. Needed a restaurant and Ox Yoke was only restaurant open. Got there at 7.20pm and requested table for 2, there were approx. 10 diners still in restaurant. Was advised that the kitchen staff were cleaning up but she would go check to see if they could do something for us. Came... More

Every time we visit family in Iowa, we always request a meal in the Amana colonies. We used to frequent another restaurant, but the service has rapidly declined and now the Ox Yoke is our every couple of year "go to" place. I came to the Ox Yoke last weekend with my uncle and brother and all I could think... More
