Sunday morning breakfast was delicious! There is a huge amount of food, so come hungry. It is served family style, but there are infinite refills if you want them.

The food is ok but the treatment by the old woman at the front desk was the worst ever. I actually overheard her tell an employee that she hates people and it was more than obvious. It turns out, she is the owner's wife. The prices are way too high for the quality of food that you receive even though... More

Our family has been to the Colony Inn numerous times for breakfast and dinner. We live a short distance from the Amana Colonies (less than 20 miles). In general, we like the food and the service has always been fine. We arrived to at the Colony Inn on a very busy Saturday night. We were told we would need to... More

The Amana colonies are great fun, an interesting stop in Iowa, The food at these places is homemade and you get a lot. Not gourmet but good.

When you go to the Amana's and you stop to have dinner you might expect to get some authentic German cuisine. Not here. My Wiener schnitzel came out of a deep fat fryer! It was awful. The family-style sides were acceptable and setting was truly Amana Colonies but the kitchen should be ashamed of themselves. Would not recommend if you... More

We stopped for breakfast. We found out it was only family style which didn't bother me I like family style. The food wasn't great bacon chewy eggs over easy (which I don't like). I liked the coffee, fruit, and the thinnest pancakes ever! The service was good the coffee kept being poured and waitress was around frequently to offer refills... More

It was a beautiful day to walk around and take in the sights of this historical place. It makes a person get hungry so we stopped in this place to eat. I ordered a Reuben sandwich. It was very good.

My two sons and I stopped here for an early dinner and we were very disappointed. The waiter did not smile, did not make eye contact and was generally unapproachable. We had to find the hostess twice to get drink refills and other needs met. When the waiter came to the dining area he would not even make eye contact... More

Ate here with a group of about 20 friends on a Friday night, service was good but not fast. The starters were the same as always: fresh salad, great cottage cheese, kraut that I don't like, and pretty good bread. The chicken was very good, the smoked chop was good too, but the Swiss steak was forgettable. And the desserts... More

My wife and I courted in this place over 50 years ago. It is essentially the same today as was in the 1950's. The food is wonderful, plentiful and well presented. The service is definitely "old country" as is the decor. If you want to eat in historic surroundings with good food served family style, this is the place.
