Don't let the exterior fool you. This is a wonderful secret, out of the way place for some of the best smoked meet around. I ordered the sampler plate and first tasted the pork, turkey and brisket without any sauce. The smoke was mellow and done to perfection. next I tried there various sauces. The sweet and the spicy would... More

I was hoping for a really good BBQ dinner, and wasn't disappointed. The menu covered the basic BBQ standards.... Brisket and ribs, but didn't have pulled pork. Instead, John's has a smoked pork loin that is amazing. They also have smoked turkey is moist, tender and better than Thanksgiving! The ribs were tender, juicy and fell off the bone. Their... More

Great Barbeque sandwiches and dinners. Saurekraut soup was delicious. Best grasshopper drink around and it is made with ice cream!

Make the trip it is worth it. Great food, great prices. A person could develop a lustful addiction to the toad bellies. If this place were in Iowa city, they would be lining up. Love to go back when ever I get the chance.

This was a follow-up visit for us. Stopped on our way out of town for a quick bite, and were not disappointed. Mrs. C had the beef brisket, very tender and well flavored. Jr. Curmudgeon had the medium sized flat iron steak (8-10 ounce cut), it was very tender, well seasoned and a perfect medium rare as ordered. I had... More

We have eaten there a few times, each time I ask myself 'why?' The last time we ate there, we were in the area, it was late and we were hungry...nowhere else to go. We spend $60.00 just stopping to 'get a bite to eat.' The Toad Bellys are REALLY GOOD, the service wasn't too bad, but the prices...TOO HIGH... More

Excellent food! The ribs were wonderful and the toadbellies are a real treat. Go there and find out what they are. The sauerkraut soup was good - much better than it sounds! The staff there were all absolutely outstanding. Unbelievably friendly and helpful. Highly recommended,

Two meals under our belts, and we are happy to give all 4 and 5 scores. Ribs are smoked on site, outdoors, so the restaurant maintains a clean fresh environ. Pulled pork is ok. Brisket is best done OJ chopped format. Ribs are meaty, all silver removed, great rub used on them. Deserts are.not overly sweet, but flavorful. The applesauce... More
