Authentic Malaysian restaurant

This restaurant had been talked about by my friends a lot and we finally got to it. Food was very authentic to the Malaysian cuisine. The Hainanese Chicken was very authentic according to my Singapore friends. It is different than the one I had in Hong Kong though.

We were a group of 12 so decided to order some appetizers and entrees to eat family style. As such I got the opportunity to sample dishes I wouldn't necessarily have order such as the green curry and mongolian lamb: the curry was spicy but not overly "hot" and I enjoyed spoon the sauce on my rice; the mongolian lamb... Malaysian food is not a common cuisine found in the US. The food is heavy on spice, heat, shrimp paste, lemon grass, etc. And many of the dishes are quite bold and pungent, which may not sit well with most American palette. To me, these are the biggest obstacles for this restaurant, i.e. how do you keep it authentic, but... More

I love Malaysian food and have been a number of them including the other Penang restaurants. The Roti Canai is one of the most delicious things they are pretty good there. Then, we order six entree dishes and they are OK, not outstanding through, may be missing the spices. I think It is still a good place to have Malaysian... More

We have been eating here a couple of times a month for years. It is consistently good. They all serve halal/Zabiha chicken meat if that's your preference.

Really good food, but not as good as Chef Ping which is a couple blocks up. We went here when the wait was too long at Chef Ping. It was good, but definitely a second choice.

Great little Malaysian lunch place with outstanding Roti appetizer and Rendang chicken or beef. Done well and consistently good. Other good Southeast Asian items on menu. If you like flavorful food with a hint of spice. Try Penang!

I love Malaysian food, but it's hard to find a good Malaysian restaurant in California, Texas or anywhere else except Malaysia. Australia was very very good. Then we walked into Penang, Arlington in Illinois, United States. I was surprised. Food was really good and very close to what I got in Malaysia. If you are in town, you got to... More

Great Asian cuisine--difficult choices to make with >100 menu items. Highly recommend the grilled pork chops, which are sliced then and marinated before being char-grilled. Reminded me of street food I've enjoyed in SE Asia. Friendly family service, eager to please.

I went for lunch and tried the chicken rending lunch special. It came with a delicious, good size portion of hot and sour soup, and 2 small egg rolls. The portion was definitely a good size. There were green beans, okra, onions, and eggplant(?) along with a lot of white meat chicken and the most delicious coconut sauce with some... More
