I am a vegan went with other meat lovers. I liked the roti canai and roti telur (with egg). The serving lady understand that I dont meat. So she offered me a veg curry as side dish along with the canai and telur. I then ordered mixed veg curry and it came with some rice. It was also not bad... More

Penang is one o the restaurants thats in our rotation. We usually eat here once a month or once every two months and have been eating here for over 5 years. Good and attentive service and clean and consistently good food. It has a wide variety of things from chinese to Malaysian which is probably what they do best. Its... More

I've eaten at Penang when they were located in Chicago and really enjoyed it. I was delighted to find them in their new location in Arlington Heights. The Malaysian, Singaporean and Straits Chinese food is authentic and very good...be that the Laksa, Bak Kut Teh, Curry Fish Head, or any of the extensive list of dishes on the menu. Check... More

On a recommendation of a Malaysian friend, we decided to drop in for lunch here even though we were staying about 35 minutes' drive away. The char kway teow was simply delicious and had the wok-hay (hot wok) taste, and good use of pork lard. The squid was soft and nice, and the prawns were fresh though could have been... More

I was born and grew up in Malaysia. Penang is the only restaurant I visit for authentic Malaysian food. Malaysian food is a melting pot of influences from the colonial British, Portugese, Dutch, Chinese, Malay, Indian (from India), Thai (north of the border) and finally Peranakan (Chinese+Malay). Whenever I miss home country, I come to Penang.

The Rendang chicaken was divine divine, excellent spice, great taste. the Penang Char kueh noodles were really delicious, the atmosphere is pretty decent. Their Credit card machines were out that day, so it was a cash only dinner setting, luckily they informed us as soon as we got in, and we had some cash so we could enjoy the meal.... More

For 6 years I travelled to Malaysia quite regularly ane enjoyed the great food of that country. The Penang restaurant is just as good as the food I ate in Malaysia. I particularly recommend the Beef Randang, Satay, and Roti Chani. Great service too.

We were there on 2 separate occassions, 2 days apart. Love the Char Koay Teow here. The Seafood Chow Fun was overly peppery and full of squid and shrimps. Hokkien Mee was a bit too sweet for my liking and also filled with shrimp, and squid and pork. Nasi lemak was good, and of course the roti canai is always... More
