Quaint river view!

First visit to My Just Desserts did not disappoint. I had the daily special of Chicken Divan (broccoli/chicken casserole) and it was tasty with tender chunks of chicken in a creamy sauce. There were choices of 2 soups, 3 or 4 salads, 5 or 6 sandwiches and about a dozen desserts. I chose the dessert... read more

I stopped by here with a friend for lunch before driving the Great River Road. As someone with food allergies, I deeply appreciated the attentive service and care that was paid to my food. The meal was terrific and our server was very friendly. This is a neat little diner with a country cottage feel.

The menu all about lunch. Great food especially the desserts. Really great pies. Try it, you will love it. But get there early.

Try the chicken salad sandwich. It's a little different than the norm with chunks of white meat and green olive pieces that add a great taste! If you're still hungry after a king size sandwich go for one of their exquisite desserts. My personal favorite is the "radical" cherry pie. Cherries are a little more tart making a piece even... Historic building, appropriately decorated 'luncheonette' in downtown Alton. Now has ramp for easier access. Decorated with old quilts and other antiques (all or most for sale). Mom & I had chicken salad on a plate, accompanied by a wonderful, light homemade roll. Chicken salad had lots of olive pieces (which I carefully extracted), but otherwise, was very tasty. Homemade pies... More

Had lunch here with an old high school friend. Was very nice and homey. Very good desserts. Server was very nice and friendly. Realized we were catching up on old times and didn't rush us. Desserts were very good. Other menu was a bit limited, but that sort of goes with the territory.

Very crowded on Sunday afternoon. Busy and most desserts sold out. OK price. Would go during week to avoid crowds and for better dessert selection. Small space.

Friends invited us to join them for pie and coffee after a Sunday leaf-peeping drive up the River Road. My Just Desserts is a beautifully appointed tea room, with antiques and quilts dispelling homespun country charm throughout. Loved sitting at the antique tables, relaxing with friends. We arrived around 3 on a Sunday, too late to order lunch. Another drawback... More

We stopped here while touring Alton for lunch. The menu is on a chalkboard on the wall and you see the staff erasing items as they run out. Seems like everything is fresh every day especially the pie. I had the soup of the day with toasted turkey sandwich which I liked. My wife had the small chicken pear salad... More
