A decent summer stop

The food here is just okay in our experience, not worth the prices but not a reason to stay away. But's it the only place in the Algonquin area to have dinner on the Fox River, and that makes it a worthwhile stop in itself.

Appetizers and first course came in a timely fashion but dinner didn't come until 45 minutes later. No explanation except that they were busy. Dinner came cold and not edible. Took it back and 2nd time thefood was warmer except for the main course (scallops). They comped my meal. Really disappointed.

Hi Cindy. We certainly extend our apologies for the delays that occurred on Saturday. The explanation that we were busy, although true, is not an excuse and we feel horrible for how the evening unfolded. We did have a culinary issue due to a prior scheduled event that caused the kitchen to fall behind. We also experienced a great influx... More

I always have mixed emotions about this place. Old and in desperate need of a good cleaning or redecorating. The food is mostly average. But, usually live music on the weekends and the outdoor patio right on the river make it enjoyable in summer. I love their appetizers. Some of their fish taste old and overcooked to the point that... We LOVE Port Ed's. They have the Sunday best brunch. The Salem Lounge is great to hang out in for cocktails & appetizers. The Koi fish are beautiful in the indoor pond. I love looking around at all the nautical fixtures & decorations. They actually have a sailboat on the indoor pond that you can eat a meal on. It's... More

What a great place for Date night, families etc.. This is old world charm. There is even a sail boat in the middle of the restaurant for special occasions. The food is good, pricey but worth it. If you have never been here, go for a cocktail just to check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Our family of 14 shared Easter brunch at PE this past weekend, and while pricey, if you like fish, this is the place. Remembering it was Easter, they were pretty good on keeping reservations to the times allotted, but the set up of the Brunch was in the middle of the dining room, making it very difficult to maneuver around,... The Cobb salad is fantastic, with a great presentation, and everything about it was fresh. Partner ordered fish and chips, which tasted excellent, but was not of a generous enough portion for a "man sized" meal for the money. Great to be able to overlook the Algonquin River in the bar room, but.....felt like the place needed a good cleaning... More

The bar area is always fun, with great bartenders and entertainment on the weekends. Unfortunately I have never been impressed with the food. Summer is great sitting outside.

When we lived outside the area, we used to love to have special dinners here. Now that we've been here for 22 years, I have to say the food quality has gone down in the last 10 years. The best thing they have going for them now is their Bloody Mary Drink.

Hi, Judy. We appreciate your feedback. As a longtime resident of Algonquin and guest of Port Edward your honesty means a great deal to us. As a business we rely on guests like you to offer your comments so we can learn, grow, and change for the better. You are correct that we likely did have our “heyday”. Years ago... More
