Don't be misled by "general store'';this is top-shelf dining!

My wife and I had one of our best dinners ever here. The scallops were mouth-watering. The ambiance was warm and the service personable and attentive. The drive out was easy and well worth the time. We'll definitely be back.

We have been coming here every time for the past years since they have opened. 12 years ago had my son's rehersal dinner here. Over the years the fish has been great but now always have to have the BQ ribs as they are really different. Sweet and sassy. Was disappoint as we were going to eat on a Saturday... More

I have had a few lunch menu items and I have been less than impressed each time.. The ribs and the Kobe burger were just OK, but the Fish tacos were especially disappointing.. Four people in our large group ordered them and we all felt they just wet and bland.. I suggest you order what they are known for over... More

The Haliimaile General Store is still one of our favorite restaurants in Hawaii. It is in Makawao, so can be a bit of a drive, particularly if you are staying in west Maui (such as Kaanapali or Kapalua). It is worth the extra effort. My wife had the Blackened Ahi and I had the Horseradish Crusted Opakapaka, and both were... More

Mama's fish house has always been our favorite restaurant on the island for many years. But we finally got around to try Hali'imaile General Store which we believe edge out ahead of mama's. Our starter sashimi Napoleon was beautifully presented. The sauce was particularly delightful. My main was lamb chop with black bean sauce which was perfectly cooked. The sauce... More

In preparation for our trip, I did some research into where the best restaurants were on Maui. Based on past reviews, the General Store was at the top of my list. So, I was not surprised, but very pleased, that whenever I mentioned that we were planning on going there for lunch, whomever I was talking with just raved about... More

A group of us had dinner here and everyone thought their dinner was wonderful and the service couldn't be beat. If you are in West Maui it's a bit of a drive but well worth the time and the drive is beautiful. It's a little pricey but for a special treat it is well worth it.

I was fortunate to visit this restaurant for the third time during my recent visit to Maui. This is not only one of the best restaurants in Maui, but rather, one of the best in the United States. Bev Gannon deserves her ranking as one of America's best chef's. Every course we ordered was pure delight. Can't wait to return.

Nothing else needs to be said as this is the dish you MUST try when you go here. It really is that good. We shared among four, but next time I would order one for myself. The soup of yesterday was very tasty, as were the fish tacos. The ribs were good. The kalua pork dish tasted better with every... More

Sort of hard to find as it is not in town. However worth the trip. Food is good and reasonable. Try the Sashimi Napoleon. Even if you do not go to the crater a trip to the up country is a must do. So different from the rest of Maui. While there the General store is your best bet for... More
