We made some new friends on our vacation and came here on a Wednesday night. Great atmosphere at sunset and later; definitely eat outside. Unlike other reviewers, our service was great. The waiter knew the menu, and was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was so nice, I thought the food would be average at best. Wrong. Everything was perfect. I... More

This was by far the best meal we had on the Big Island. The seared Ono was divine and the local vegetables were amazingly fresh and perfectly seasoned. All and all, very Hawaiian, very gourmet, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. It is expensive, but well worth it.

The setting was beautiful and the food was also great. Our son had the "Tropical Itch" drink and it packed quite a punch.

Lovely setting, and food was good. We suspect locals may be disappointed at the serving sizes compared to most USA restaurants we have visited, but we enjoyed 3 courses and left happy.

We hadn't intended to dine at Canoe House as had seen mixed reviews and often find resort dining can be a little ho-hum. With little to do at the resort and not feeling like the bistro style dining also on offer we decided to try it about 8 PM on a Thursday night with no booking. Restaurant was about 1/3... More

We have visited this restaurant every time we have been on the island. It has been consistently a five star experience in food quality, presentation and flavor, atmosphere and service. This time we also were impressed with the live entertainment. Charles Brotman performed slack key and acoustic guitar. We learned later that he is a Grammy award winning performer. Don't... More

Joe, the very friendly manager partnered with us to plan out our elegant family graduation dinner long distance for sixteen. As we walked off the beach straight onto the patio we were able to bee line it to our tastefully decorated table. Throughout the evening he'd stop by to say hello and ck up on us. ***** Cynthia, our waitress,... More

We love the CanoeHouse for special events and for sharing with friends. It is situated perfectly for beach view sunsets. The live music is always quality listening. Wait staff are personable and knowledgeable. And the food, a feast for the eyes and the palate.

Good view of sunset from the terrace. Food wasn't bad, but I thought prices were high hence the 3/5. Probably would be a 4/5 if prices were $5-10 lower per entree. Good wine list and service.

Food was very good. High quality. The ambiance was incredible. Watched the sun set from our table. Walt was our waiter and he was incredible. I would go back in a heartbeat.
