Wonderful shrimp and grits and better locals!

Happiness abounded finding them open on Sunday night when my mouth screamed shrimp and grits and so many restaurants were closed. I sat at the bar. The locals were very friendly, as were the waitstaff. The bartender steered me to the shrimp and grits amongst the choices we discussed and my mouth... read more

There is definitely a different vibe at Rae's Coastal Café, which has always been one of my favorites. There are new servers...and much less attentive and competent than previous staff. I was there a few days ago, and one of the servers was sitting at a customer's table chatting with him for a majority of the time that I was... More

My wife and I went for dinner while attending the Master's. We were met by the owner at the door and greeted like old friends. The staff was friendly and attentive. Setting was comfortable and relaxing. Food was excellant. We started with a couple of Key lime Pie Martinis which were outstanding. ( a must). We shared Chicken Wings, Shrimp Pate... More

So it's a bit of a quest to find the restaurant and it isn't, admittedly, much to look at on the outside. However... The food was amazing. I had the grilled salmon and the only thing wrong with it is that I wish there'd been more. My mom had the prime rib and it was MASSIVE, so there was plenty... More

My friends and I gather at Rae's for every birthday lunch. It is a fun place with terrific service and great food. They have the most wonderful salad and you can top it with fish or chicken. It is so good, I just sometimes have to go other times. We do plan another birthday as we sit there and have... More

I was in Augusta visiting friends and trying desperately to remember the name of my favorite lunch place from 15 years ago. Finally after a few hints, my friend remembered and we returned for an early dinner and it was just a great as I remembered. I love the atmosphere and the owner greeted every customer. Next time I visit,... More

My mom and I love to go to Rae's for lunch. The food is very good (especially the fried onions!!!) and the service is WONDERFUL!!! My mom is somewhat handicap and the staff is always so helpful and kind in getting her in and out. Rae's is a bit out of the way, but totally worth it!

Eight of us (2 families) ate together here and they were so accommodating. We had a 6 mo. old, 3 yr old, and 9 yr old kids and 5 adults. We were seated promptly and our orders were taken right away. Waitress helped us with all our special requests and the manager checked on us, too. The food was very... More

Although I am an Augusta native, I had never eaten at Rae's. While visiting my mom, we decided to try somewhere different for lunch and we're glad we did. The crab cake and chicken puffed pastry were delicious, as were the boiled shrimp. We will definitely return when it is not quite so cold to enjoy lunch on the patio.

Our visit to Rae's was quite memorable (once we got there). Everything was wonderful. Food was served hot, great variety on the menu, beachey atmosphere, very attentive waitress, and honestly one of the most enjoyable meals we had on our recent trip to that area. Don't think you could go wrong here if every visit was like ours.
