Great First Time visit, with excellent food. Great flavors and service. I had Buttered chicken with tomato based sauce ( 3 out of 5 heat level) and my wife had lamb with onions and green peppers with brown sauce ( no heat). We will get...back there again.More

We visited Augusta for an event and saw the great Taj reviews. We were not disappointed!! Tasty Indian food. Nicely prepared and presented. The service was very friendly. The owner, Maria is funny and put a smile on our faces. Highly recommended!!

If you live in or visit Augusta Ga, do not miss this restaurant; Taj of India. Not only is the food delicious but it is a genuine Indian cuisine. What's special about this restaurant, it comes with a personable owner Maria who makes you feel...like family. She will chase you down in a parking lot to make sure your food is hot. From a local who knows.More

We're staying in Atlanta, and wanted to meet some friends who live in South Carolina for dinner. The halfway point was Augusta GA. They picked this wonderful restaurant, and it was worth the drive! We started by ordering their Peshawari Naan bread (stuffed with coconut...and raisins). For dinner I had their Lamb Vindaloo. She asked how hot (from 1 to 10), I said 6 and it was just about right. It didn't numb my lips but it had a nice kick and flavor to it. My daughter had their Matar Mushrooms (green peas, mushrooms in a curry sauce). The bill for three of us was $64 before tip.More

Incredible, friendly service! We stopped in Augusta, GA for the night. Found this place on Google search. We eat at a locally owned Indian restaurant at home and love the dishes. This place did NOT disappoint! It is small dining area but they handle the...health requirements nicely. Everyone answered our questions about menu options and our family has a few dietary restrictions. Dishes were hot and very tasty. Although the dining room and outdoor seating were busy and many came in for to-go pickups, the wait was very reasonable. A definite must for a local spot and something away from fast food and pizza options! Vegetarian, Vegan and gluten free options available.More

When my vegan friend asked me to lunch and left the restaurant selection to me, my immediate choice was Taj of India. If it wasn't so far away from me, I would be a regular, but it's definitely worth the drive. I knew that she...would find something to satisfy her tastes, and I always do. The flavors, service, and ambience are a win win win!More

Celebrating our 44th at The Taj....besides the wonderful food and Indian ambiance, Maria, SIngh and their staff are so gracious and accommodating. One of the best restaurants in Augusta, as far as the food and service are concerned. We go there regularly and always take...our guests to The Taj for dinner. A jewel for Augusta. Thanks, Maria and Singh.More

We had the opportunity to dine here during an escape from Dorian, since Augusta seemed to be the closest town with hotel rooms out of the hurricane zone. We enjoy trying out new to us restaurants in different cities, and chose to try this Indian...restaurant on the advice of a local. Well, both the food and the service were very good, so we were pleased with the visit there. I tried kachumber, roti, and butter chicken. My wife had some tandoori chicken. The butter chicken was quite tasty, and having tried a bite of her tandoori it was equally good. The restaurant is set back from the main road in a small strip mall, so there was ample free parking. It was nice to find this quality Indian restaurant during the trip.More

I have favorite Indian restaurants in many US locations as well as Moscow, Russia and Kiev, Ukraine. This one rates very high on my list. The food is very good as is the service. I went there last night with a party of 8. This...could have been, perhaps, the 50th time in the last 10 years, and it was, again, everything I had hoped for.More

Went for lunch buffet. Yes the buffet table is smallish, but so is the room, and the entrees get right to the point, well cooked and flavorful. And one feature was baby eggplant, which is one you don't often see at such a buffet. I'm...a gourmand about Indian foods and I had no complaints at all here. I mused over my choices and I think I made the right one. Intimate setting with very friendly staff, and there's a bigger overflow room if you want it, plus I only noticed on the way out, there's also outdoor patio seating (shaded) if you want that. I'll definitely mark this place for my next visit to Augusta.More

I visited the restaurant for the first time on Monday 25 February 2019. It was “early” (5:30) and fortunately for me, wasn’t particularly crowed, but filled up by 6:00’ish. It’s usually a good indicator when you visit an ethic restaurant, to find folks of that...ethnicity dining at the restaurant. That was the case this evening so I felt more confident with my choice of restaurant. I ordered the Vegetable Samosa. Two perfectly cooked and spiced samosa arrived within a few minutes to only be devoured; they were very good. I got the stand-by dish for dinner, Chicken Tikka Masala. The waitress asked how spicy I wanted it, “medium”. It was perfectly spiced with just the right amount of zing – delicious! I ordered Naan – hot and perfect. The service was good, despite being served in “group fashion” – 3 different waitresses – They were sharing responsibility for all tables and simply just doing what needed to be done. It worked fine. Overall, I recommend Taj of India.More

After touring Meadow Gardens, we wanted to eat in the Augusta area before we left for home. We both like Indian food and my wife found this place TRIP ADVISOR. It was unch time and the place was packed. They do have a menu but...we decided to try the buffet. There was about 8 different dished to try and we tried many of them, everything was wonderful, the naan bread was great. They also had a salad table and dessert table to selct from. My wife asked one of the other diners if he had eaten there before and he told her that it was his third time in two weeks. If you are looking for something different, tasty and great food full of flavor you need to try this place. The food was good and we hope to return some day.More

Here's the issue: beautiful decor, friendly hostess (owner ?), gorgeous restrooms, clean throughout, obviously with "regulars" who enjoy coming, BUT a very small lunch buffet with only 2 chicken entrees (no other meats), and food that was bland (mildly spiced - there were no "hot"...spiced dishes or sides that we saw). I favor vindaloo, especially lamb or goat, but love any of the curries if I can get them hotly spiced. Therefore, since a good selection of great food is what ultimately makes the difference, this fell short. Our local owner offers beverages, including spiced tea, desert, a large relish selection (chutneys and pickles), 4-5 vegetable dishes, 2 rices, and 4-5 meat dishes all for a price not much more than what we paid here.More
