The Grit never disappoints. I have been a loyal customer, frequenting the restaurant since 1995. It has such an awesome variety and will satisfy any appetite. It hands down is the best place in Athens for brunch, serving up the Jittery Joe's Grit Blend coffee and offering a wide variety of breakfast burritos, omelets, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, french toast,... Great noodle bowl of the day with the right spices yummy tofu and fresh veggies. A nice delight and I will be back ! service attentive and spot on. Not noisy and full of blaring music like some places in town It was a real treat.

Vegan yum. There really is something for everyone here. I could not stop ordering food here! I can't wait to go back to try another daily special. I had the Asian-inspired rice noodle bowl which was great. However, my daughter's grill cheese was epic!

We just made our second trip to Athens and eating at The Grit was on the top of our to-do list, especially since this time my indescriminatarian husband was with us veggies :-) He enjoyed his food as much as we did. We went back for take out the next night, and we came home and cooked the recipe for... More

A must-try place in Athens, our favorite there for over 10 years now. Perfect college town quirky atmosphere, but with no weird music playing. A vegetarian place that does not feel or taste like it. Great prices and friendly service, but the food is what is so marvelous. Almost everything is their own make, even the bread, granola, desserts, and... More

I was a little hesitant to try an all vegetarian restaurant but give the Grit a chance and will change your opinion on what vegetarian food can be. I tried the tofu reuben and it was excellent, the tofu really did taste like pastrami. It was sliced thin as well to make the texture pretty similar to the real thing.... More

The food here is pretty great, especially since it's all vegetarian! What I will come back for any day though, is the grasshopper cake. The grasshopper cupcake was amazing too, but that cake-just simply tooo good.

Love every meal we have here! We have brought people who are not vegetarians who loved everything too. They always have great specials and a lot of variety. Desserts are amazing too if you have room for them!

We came through town on June 8th and had an enjoyable brunch here. We had the breakfast burrito, which has delicious beans, salsa and cheese and either eggs or tofu. It's really huge, so much so that I probably shouldn't have ordered the platter version of it, which comes with grits or potatoes and biscuits. If the waiter had come... More

The Grit is a definite classic in the Classic City and ever so often I have to make a pilgrimage to get a Golden Bowl with veggies and cheese... delicious!!! I've never had an issue with the service, but then again I always avoid the weekend brunch; the options are limited and usually bland and worst of all... I can't... More
