GOOD FOOD, GOOD VIBE

I love visiting new places and finding vegan or vegetarian restaurants. I was thrilled with this one. When you walk in, there’s a counter area and several tables. Then, there’s another room with a lot more tables. There’s a chalkboard with all the day’s specials, be sure to look at it... read more

But maybe it wold be if I were a vegan or eating wholly organic. I can't speak to that. However, for a person who eats normally, the food was not all that tasty. In addition, they were out of several things that sounded like they might have been better than what we eventually ordered. I will try another Athens restaurant... More

I recently went to The Grit for the first time for lunch. It was packed, but we got seated quickly. The servers were working very hard. We ordered an appetizer, a cup of soup, and two lunch entrees. Everything we got was delicious! I'm not a vegetarian, and neither was my lunch companion, but we really enjoyed all of the... More

I had not been to the Grit in over 10 years so it was great to see the place doing so well. Attentive wait staff and great environment. My breakfast burrito was top notch. I love the casual atmosphere, but professional delivery. A must when in Athens.

I so wanted to give this restaurant five stars. Super cute location. Very nice wait staff. Took a very long time to even see out waiter. Took an extraordinary amount of time to get our food. Like an hour. We enjoyed our beer potato cheese soup we got for an app. The mashed potatoes wit goat cheese were good, would... More

We ate a Sunday brunch here after a long, crowded wait. Pretty standard fare with some refinements - real maple syrup is availalbe, real butter, really fine bread that was obviously locally made. Difficult to eat here if you are gluten-free or cheese free. There is cheese or milk in almost everything. I ordered an egg sandwich, telling the waiter... More

So, you want to see native Athenians in their wild habitat: here they are. In all their vegeterian glory! Your server is probably in an experimental rock band and the aging hipsters still love it. Not to be missed on a visit here.

This place is an institution, loved by both Town and Gown. You go here to see and be seen, as well as to eat some of their very imaginative, very filling and very inexpensive food. Almost always full at peak meal times, be patient, the wait is worth it!

Don't be deterred by the vegetarian restaurant label; anyone will find an excellent meal at the Grit. The Thursday night Indian feasts are usually fantastic. Desserts are a highlight as well. The cuisine is funky international and i wouldn't say necessarily healthy, but this is rightly an Athens landmark and should not be missed.
