Saturday night favorite.. Get there early before it is all devoured. What a treat. Even though this is a vegetarian restaurant and dish, and I am not a vegetarian, we go out of our way to have this wonder lasagna. And they have great desserts too.

As meat eaters this is our second time at the Grit. The service was wonderful and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I had a sale with tofu and the lemon tahini dressing and my husband had the grilled 'steak' sandwich. The potions where really large which was great and the whole meal plus two soft drinks only came to... More

It is always a joy to have a meal at The Grit in Athens, with it's interesting ambiance and its homogenous customers, i.e., ranging from students to professorial elder types. The golden bowl (tofu, soy sauce and nutritional yeast with brown rice) is a legend and for those who remember breakfast in the South before they became a vegetarian, it... More

I've been here three times for dinner, and now feel like I can write a review. The service has always been very good. The food has been inconsistent. For example, I've had the gyro twice, and one came with much more fake meat than the other time. The fries are sometimes good, sometimes not so good. The point is that... More

I have only come here once. I plan to take everyone I can back with me. I love the exterior of the building as well as the interior design. It's not too franchised and generic looking with all the antique junk they put on the walls in most places. Yet,you still feel like you are in a one of a... More

I remember when The Grit first opened back in the 80's. I wasn't really interested in vegetarian cuisine at the time, but I tried it anyway and have been crazy about The Grit ever since! I could eat their Hummus and their Tabbouleh every day of the week! Be sure to try the Black Bean Chile and the quesadillas are... More

In the three years I lived in Athens, I spent countless hours enjoying meals here with carnivores and vegetarians alike. The food is just awesome. This restaurant single-handedly changed my notion of what a chili cheese dog could be. With their chili and sharp cheddar... I'm drooling as I type. I went back a couple of weeks ago and, thankfully,... More

By far one of my favorite restaurants. I eat here once a week, on average. Veggie plate is always a winner, with tons of options that vary daily. Worth your time!

This is a vegetarian restaurant - it's delicious and amazing. Pick up a copy of their cookbook if you can. Don't leave without trying the Golden Bowl. Amazing food and good value.
