Been eating here since it opened....

So, you want to see native Athenians in their wild habitat: here they are. In all their vegeterian glory! Your server is probably in an experimental rock band and the aging hipsters still love it. Not to be missed on a visit here.

We ate a Sunday brunch here after a long, crowded wait. Pretty standard fare with some refinements - real maple syrup is availalbe, real butter, really fine bread that was obviously locally made. Difficult to eat here if you are gluten-free or cheese free. There is cheese or milk in almost everything. I ordered an egg sandwich, telling the waiter... More

This place is an institution, loved by both Town and Gown. You go here to see and be seen, as well as to eat some of their very imaginative, very filling and very inexpensive food. Almost always full at peak meal times, be patient, the wait is worth it!

Don't be deterred by the vegetarian restaurant label; anyone will find an excellent meal at the Grit. The Thursday night Indian feasts are usually fantastic. Desserts are a highlight as well. The cuisine is funky international and i wouldn't say necessarily healthy, but this is rightly an Athens landmark and should not be missed.

So we were looking for a local place to eat breakfast and heard about The Grit. Let me just start by saying my husband is a true meat and potatoes kinda of guy. I on the other hand am a little more adventurous. So we get seated in this boho type restaurant by a smiling very friendly waitress, so far... More

My daughter is a student at UGA and she had always wanted to try this place out. I was there visiting her and we were able to go there for a Saturday Brunch. It was such a charming place. There was local artwork on the walls and it just had a nice friendly atmosphere. I had a Vegetable & cheese... More

My coworker and I always try to eat healthier when traveling and tend to avoid box restaurants. She found The Grit on Yelp and we decided to go. For an appetizer we got the hummus platter and two falafel. The hummus was definitely homemade and delicious. The falafel had a really nice flavor. For an entree I ordered the house... More

My wife and I are vegetarian, so finding this joint was significant to our stay in Athens. Its ALL veggie and vegan here, so dig in with reckless abandon. There is such a friendly atmosphere, and more importantly, the food is delicious. It's a tight squeeze in the main hall, so be sure to get there off peak hours. You... More
