very southern home like feel, lots of local there every time we go. Best potato pancakes anywhere, ever. Lots of good egg dishes and the grits are the best thing there, hence the name.. hey will not disappoint. and the biscuits are pretty amazing too

I stopped in not realizing that it was a vegetarian restaurant, but after looking at the menu I didn't run for the door. The menu was very creative, I ordered a Med - something or other. It had hummus, falafel, taboli salad, veges and warm pita bread - very good. The service was great as well. I will be back.

I am not a vegetarian and I love this place! It is on top anytime we are in Athens. As far as what is good, I don't know where to start, the grits, black eyed peas . . . it's all good!

We were in town for the weekend and some college students highly recommended this restaurant. During the week it is a great spot for Middle Eastern and vegetarian food. We came on a Sunday and it was very crowded. Worth the wait. I ordered a fried egg on a multigrain bagel. Very fresh and filling. The grits were hot and... More

Saturday night favorite.. Get there early before it is all devoured. What a treat. Even though this is a vegetarian restaurant and dish, and I am not a vegetarian, we go out of our way to have this wonder lasagna. And they have great desserts too.

As meat eaters this is our second time at the Grit. The service was wonderful and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I had a sale with tofu and the lemon tahini dressing and my husband had the grilled 'steak' sandwich. The potions where really large which was great and the whole meal plus two soft drinks only came to... More

It is always a joy to have a meal at The Grit in Athens, with it's interesting ambiance and its homogenous customers, i.e., ranging from students to professorial elder types. The golden bowl (tofu, soy sauce and nutritional yeast with brown rice) is a legend and for those who remember breakfast in the South before they became a vegetarian, it... More

I've been here three times for dinner, and now feel like I can write a review. The service has always been very good. The food has been inconsistent. For example, I've had the gyro twice, and one came with much more fake meat than the other time. The fries are sometimes good, sometimes not so good. The point is that... More
