Cute Retro Diner Diwntown

Walked here from my hotel twice to get a decent breakfast without paying $25... Great retro vibe with toys, signs and 50's booths. Good breakfast both times. Utilitarian - nothing fancy but hot, tasty filling and cheap!

I have actually had to cool myself down for two days to even write this review. Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect. Myself & a coworker were in Athens for business. We went to the diner for a late night snack before calling it a night. We sat down and I ordered a patty melt.... More

there's no way to describe how good the french fries with feta sauce are at The Grill. Their shakes are the best, too, but I didn't have one on this trip. If you've never been to The Grill, don't expect the clean shiny diner thing. it's old and clean enough with weird memorabilia on its ancient walls. very fun, though.... More

Visit the Grill for lunch. Ordered burger plate and waited .... about 1 hour ... food still not come. The children sit in another table has same fate. When we ask the waitress about the wait ... the answer is not pleasant ... "foods already order, you just wait". We finally has to take it in the box because we... More

You can tell this place is an old institution in the city of Athens. Located right next to the UGA campus in downtown Athens, there are probably grease spots on the floor and ceiling of this place that date back to at least the sixties. Service was reasonably fast for a weekend lunch crowd that only filled about half of... More

Walk through the door and it's 1940! Coca-Cola is a real deal (or a shake) and one must chose THE most correct burger - it's a task that is totally pleasant. This is on the major input to the north entrance to the campus on College Street) and is absolutely fantastic - the food, the service and LOADS of atmosphere!!!

We were in Athens for just a night last week and decided to give The Grill a try. It was a nice stroll downtown to get there, and then the whole vintage atmosphere just pulls you in. I had a grilled cheese, and husband had a Reuben. Both the sandwiches were excellent. Husband's fries were the real deal. As well... More

College town and 24 hours.. Need I say more? It is old as the hills, but has hand dipped milk shakes complete with the metal mixing cup. There are stains in the ceiling tiles, but the have home cooked potato crinkle cuts that taste like they were cut today from a real russet. IT is like a family owned waffle... More

We were in Athens from out of town for a college visit. The Grill has a good vibe, with the vintage decor and old menus. The serving staff was extremely polite and very attentive. My family and I got a couple of burgers and a pita wrap, with fries and mashed potatoes. The burgers and pita wrap were good. The... More
