Description: Continuing an Athens tradition in Creole and Cajun fine dining. What began...
Continuing an Athens tradition in Creole and Cajun fine dining. What began in 1985 as Harry Bissett's New Orleans Cafe, lives on at NONA. Located across from the University Of Georgia's historic North Campus, is the most pleasant spot downtown for lunch or dinner. NONA features three distinct dining areas: the Bayou Room, the Atrium Balcony and the gorgeous upstairs Dining Room. Enter the restaurant through the warm and welcoming old style bar and sit in an atmosphere capturing a feel of Jazz and Mardi Gras. NONA offers dishes inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Louisiana. Delectable dishes prepared with only the finest of ingredients daily. Sample Oysters Rockefeller and Bienville, Shrimp and Grits or Sherry Crab Soup. Feast on delicious entrees such as the French Quarter Filet or Chicken Rochambeau. Chef William Shay and his accomplished staff offer daily specials that suit the most discriminating palate.
Weekends are unique with our New Orleans inspired Brunch served Saturday and Sunday and are not to be missed. Be sure to check back often to learn of upcoming events and celebrations. We look forward to serving you!

The restaurant was announced as closed by the owners. They will be missed! They carried on the tradition of Harry Bissetts. Now all we have is Georges Low Country Table if you like Cajun food.

This was booked for my birthday and we were in a private room upstairs. We had two great servers and a good time was had by all. The menu has something for everyone and all said their food was delicious.

We had a fabulous meal here in a lovely atmosphere. Our compliments not only go to the chef but to the lovely waitress, cocktail mixer and front of house Derian. She worked sooo hard but still had time to talk and advise.

After reading the reviews, I was not sure which dining experience we were going to get. We were seated in the back room which is a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. Our waiter was very attentive. (I did not get his name) I had to soup and sandwich. The crawfish sandwich was light and flaky and the... More

We came here on a visit to Athens and had a wonderful time. It was a Game Day, so the place was packed. However, the service was very attentive and we had no problem getting drinks and food at the bar (everyone wants to stay in the bar area to watch the game, ourselves included). We tried several appetizers and... More

When the new owners took over this Athens institution, we congratulated them on the good food and service. Since then, on many occasions, we returned to a steady decline in service and quality of food. We swore that we would not return after having to send back uneatable food so many times. One becomes embarrassed when they send back more... More

We have been loyal customers of Nona's for years. Today we were looking forward to having brunch at our favorite brunch location in Athens. What a disappointment when we were seated and handed the brunch menu on a typed sheet and a separate lunch menu. If you were a lover of their brunch, forget it. The previous manager has been... One of my favorite spots in Athens to eat. The menu is perfectly balanced with traditional offerings I would expect to find. I have eaten here on many occasions and always left happy with my choice.

NONA, once Harry Bisssett's, serves steak and seafood in a New Orleans' style. The atmosphere is the nicest aspect of the restaurant: there's a lot of exposed brick and a sense of airiness even despite the narrow confines of the place. The food isn't bad although the heavy sauce that covered the shrimp and grits needs to be lightened up.... More

We had a beautiful table (2nd floor, by the window), had the world's most enthusiastic waitress, and a lot of wonderful food. Nice wine list. It was a spur-of-the-moment thing, but we will definitely go back.
