Continuing an Athens tradition in Creole and Cajun fine dining. What began in 1985 as Harry Bissett's New Orleans Cafe, lives on at NONA. Located across from the University Of Georgia's historic North Campus, is the most pleasant spot downtown for lunch or dinner. NONA features three distinct dining areas: the Bayou Room, the Atrium Balcony and the gorgeous upstairs Dining Room. Enter the restaurant through the warm and welcoming old style bar and sit in an atmosphere capturing a feel of Jazz and Mardi Gras. NONA offers dishes inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Louisiana. Delectable dishes prepared with only the finest of ingredients daily. Sample Oysters Rockefeller and Bienville, Shrimp and Grits or Sherry Crab Soup. Feast on delicious entrees such as the French Quarter Filet or Chicken Rochambeau. Chef William Shay and his accomplished staff offer daily specials that suit the most discriminating palate. Weekends are unique with our New Orleans inspired Brunch served Saturday and Sunday and are not to be missed. Be sure to check back often to learn of upcoming events and celebrations. We look forward to serving you!

Eclectic New Orleans looking restaurant across from the arche

In the mid 1990's it was known as Harry Bissets Restaurant, however only the name changed. The Louisiana Cajun cuisine is still the finest in the state, and the same management team is in place. I start every meal with Oysters Rockefeller, and usually a fish entrée. I have NEVER been disappointed. My favorite seat.... Upstairs at table #23. They... More

Wanted to try something new, and ended up here. We did not have reservations, but were seated within minutes...even with it being graduation week at UGA! Our waitress was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. Started out with the appetizers of shrimp and grits, and the crawfish cakes. Shrimp and grits may have been the best we... More

I went here for a friends birthday party. This place is a good place to go for a little cajun food. The last experience however was disappointing, I do not know if it was because of the size of our party or what. The restaurant was not very busy, in fact they were still setting up for dinner while we... More

We are very concerned with the less than extraordinary experience you had as our guest. We pride ourselves on providing outstanding customer service and satisfaction and that does not appear to be the case here. We wish you would've addressed these concerns while you were here so you could see just how much we appreciate your business. We extend our... More

It was a friend birthday and he chose the restaurant. We were seated promptly by a very friendly hostess. It took five to ten minutes for our server to arrive at our table. We were the only people downstairs. At which point I could tell he was annoyed and thought great not going to get a good tip from them.... More

My family went to eat there on a Friday night. After being seated, they waited an hour and 45 minutes before they received their food due to the insufficient wait staff. Their food was average at best, which is really bad considering the cost was on the high side. If I pay $20+ an entree, I expect great food. I... More

If you like the food in NOLA, this is the place for you in Athens, A great place for lunch and dinner--they also have a fabulous weekend brunch. Neil Smith has done a great job in keeping the spirit of Harry Bissett's but also turning the food up a notch. The muffulettas on Monday are as good as you would... More

Had a great date at this downtown eatery. The place is deceptively large, as a long corridor connects two distinct sections, a front area with the bar & high-top tables & flat-screen TVs; and the back with more formal seating traditional tables & chairs with tablecloths. Our server was very attentive and made helpful menu suggestions. The seafood gumbo was... More

I loved the last meal I had here, so ordered it again, beginning with the Happy Hour special of $1 oysters. Of the dozen, six were definitely "small," and three were so tiny they could have fit in a teaspoon with room to spare. When that happened at another restaurant a block away, they apologized and gave me two to... More
