Good food and service

First of all don't be dissuaded by the location and outside appearance. It's located in a small shopping center and is unpretentious from the outside. However, the food is really good and the prices are moderate. We ordered the crab cakes and the scallops and both were really good. Also enjoyed... read more

My wife and I went here on a Saturday night for her birthday. This little restaurant is outside of the downtown Athens and Atlanta Highway series of restaurants. I could not have been happier to discover it. The place is small but very nice, the staff is extremely polite and helpful, and parking is abundant and free. The food is... More

Good menu, Good food, good service. We would go again. We were visiting from out of the area and I could see they may get busy so you may need a reservation.

We only moved to the area two years ago, and are slowly eating our way through town. Just tried George's Low Country Table for the first time. We had no idea what to expect - came in and saw white tablecloths and knew it was a bit more upscale than what we anticipated- but don't worry. The place is casual... More

We were happy when George's opened after Harry Bisset's closed. They are even better than Bisset's. I have never had a bad meal here, and the service is good as well. The scallops or shrimp and grits, crab cakes, Etoufee- all delicious. I wish they kept the fried pickles on the menu all of the time. I highly recommend George's.

We branched out in our dining choices on this visit to Athens and discovered Low Country Table. The now closed Harry Bisset's (Downtown) was the first restaurant we enjoyed when visiting Athens and we were pleased to find a restaurant opened by one of his protégés. Located just off the Loop, this restaurant was busy for an early Saturday evening.... More

Food and atmosphere were great! We went for a pre-game dinner. Étouffée, red fish, carbonara and scallops were excellent. Accompanying salads just ok. Biscuits for the table were great. We'd recommend highly and will return.

Ok service is not good service. Ok service means you ask for what seems obvious: silverware, bread, a stable chair. The place was crowded. The server was really nice but it was like she just needed to start over. The host took us to our table which had one real chair and one chair that was an old yard chair.... More

In our first attempt to find George's, we passed right by its location in a strip mall by a package store. The sign was small and hard to read, but we did eventually arrive. We had to be in Athens on a Sunday at lunchtime, and George's advertised "Lowcountry Boil" sounded the most appealing of all the options that we... More

George's used to be our go-to brunch place. The last few visits have been less than satisfactory. They have been understaffed and seemed overwhelmed the last few times (longer waits for food, slower service), and the menu hasn't been updated in a while. Go to brunch for the Bloody Mary and mimosa specials but the menu items and level of... More
