We are told that this place's BBQ is fantastic.....however, we have yet to have any for the BBQ. Today we went for Sunday brunch and while we didn't eat of the BBQ we could smell it cooking while we ate breakfast.....and, it sure smelled good!!!! That said, the breakfast/brunch was very good. Three of us had the Sweet Morning which... More

I would not call it gourmet, but it was good and satisfying. You could tell by the ambulance double parked out front that the locals eat here. Service is not fast,so I'm sure the paramedics called ahead. Those who showed up on this Saturday lunch trip were laid back students and young hippies. We tried a pimento cheese burger, BBQ tacos,... My hubby and I were searching for a different place to eat, happened upon this, and were absolutely thrilled. The aroma of meat smoking was other worldly, if that's possible!! The owner, who is also the chef, was trained professionally at New York's Culinary Institute of America. Located in the historic Boulevard district, the former grocery store, Davis House, once... Visited at 12pm in a Saturday lunchtime - fairly busy as you might expect but not outrageously so. Service was polite but not exactly rapid. That's fine but I don't expect to then wait 45 mins for 4 BBQ sandwiches. Got the impression it was the same wait for everyone. Pork was well smoked but nothing out of the ordinary.

If you look at there photos above, it is not what many people would envision as a gourmet restaurant exterior or interior. The shelves on the rear wall have toys and games for kids. A glass meat case from a previous store is covered with white paper where children can use crayons to draw. The tables don't match, and "al fresco"... More

This restaurant represents all the many things I love about Athens; eclectic, casual, great food and atmosphere. I'm always looking for ways to show my kids that you shouldn't judge something (or someone) by their appearance. This was the perfect lesson! Yes, it looks a little run down on the outside but that's what makes it special, along with the... More

My UGA foodie son recommended we have lunch at White Tiger Gourmet. It's a yummy delight off the beaten path inside a small, non-descript, unassuming vintage neighborhood grocery store. Once inside, the menu reveals bar be que, daily specials and more prepared with a creative twist. Intentional eclectic interior - extinct grocery store meets quirky folk art and colorful yard... The food at White Tiger is sooooo delicious! It's southern food with a unique twist. Fun, local feel and outdoor seating. Great option outside of downtown and located in the Boulevard neighborhood.

This evaluation is based on three trips here for lunch in the past two months. I tried the BBQ sandwich, BBQ tacos, and chicken sandwich. All were just a mess, with juices and sauce dripping out everywhere. The sandwich buns were soggy, and probably not toasted - you can't tell because they get so wet. The BBQ itself is okay.... More

I eat here often and I think almost all of their stuff is great. But this is not the place to go if you are looking for a classy experience. The atmosphere of White Tiger is more like your eccentric neighbor invited you over for a sandwich. For me, that is my kind of place.
