Good, Greasy food! No frills or fancy stuff, just good game day food! Love visiting here to get fast food that's as unique as Athens!!!

We were in town for the UGA/GT game this past weekend. Food was OK, nothing special. We were rethinking our decision to come in when we saw the permanent office for the police officer on duty! When the girl at the counter didn't wake up, (honestly, she was sleeping on her feet at the register!) one of the girls down... More

This is an old favorite in Athens. The burgers and dogs are good. They're small but simply order a couple and you'll be fine. These guys have wi-fi which was nice while being on the road.

The MANS review: What can I say, Its an institution!!! Anyone who has had a fried pie a la mode here at the Varsity knows....... Here is the scene: 10:00 pm Friday night before the Georgia Bulldogs / Auburn Tigers game, one of the conferences oldest rivalries. Key game for both teams. The streets of Athens are filled with the... More

Some places know how to make dining and experience and the varsity is the master of this. Go to the counter and get bowled over by "Whadayouhave". Order a plain hotdog and it becomes a naked tube steak. Order a hamburger with lettuce and it is " one through the garden". A plain old grilled cheese is good. Great onion... More

Whereas the dogs in its multitude of variations, the onion rings and fries for which they are well known, it is primarily the grease in the food that keeps us coming back. It tastes great but is not good for you. I along with every Dawg must stop at the Varsity whenever nearby. Three separate dining areas feature Kids stuff,... More

Not a health food place, but a rare eating experience. Good dogs almost any way you might want them and tasty onion rings. They have burgers also. Excellent but greasy onion rings. Great apple and peach fried pies like grandmother used to make in the south. Go more for the experience than the food! It is a "sister" to the... More

Everything was dripping in grease. It was like nothing was drained. Prevent the buns were soaked I grease. Prices high. Food quality poor.

We stay at the Best Western across the street, and both my husband and I always look forward to having our chili dogs and onion rings! Fun place to check out! Highly recommended!

Greasy, not quick, over-rated, and historic....All I can see is the mystique of being an institution. The only thing on the menu worth mentioning is the orange cream...everything else is a stomach ache waiting to happen. Grease, grease, and more grease.... Cheap food, slung at you, and hard on the old intestines. I wonder what they put in the chili.... More
