Not a health food place, but a rare eating experience. Good dogs almost any way you might want them and tasty onion rings. They have burgers also. Excellent but greasy onion rings. Great apple and peach fried pies like grandmother used to make in the south. Go more for the experience than the food! It is a "sister" to the... More

Everything was dripping in grease. It was like nothing was drained. Prevent the buns were soaked I grease. Prices high. Food quality poor.

We stay at the Best Western across the street, and both my husband and I always look forward to having our chili dogs and onion rings! Fun place to check out! Highly recommended!

Greasy, not quick, over-rated, and historic....All I can see is the mystique of being an institution. The only thing on the menu worth mentioning is the orange cream...everything else is a stomach ache waiting to happen. Grease, grease, and more grease.... Cheap food, slung at you, and hard on the old intestines. I wonder what they put in the chili.... More

Ate here on my first day in town, two chili dogs and fries. I was violently sick within 10/15 minutes of eating my meal. Not sure what it was that made me so sick. When we walked in there was a customer at the counter asking for help. He was upset that his order hadn't been filled properly. He waited... More

We walked over to the Varsity from our hotel (best western) and had a hot dog. My husband and I both really enjoyed our food. The staff are really nice

The Varsity in Athens (and Atlanta too) is an institution in north Georgia. I've been going to The Varsity in both locations for many, many years. If you like hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, and onion rings The Varsity has the best!! July 12 I stopped at the Athens location and consumed at chili dog, a chili burger, onion rings, and... More

The Varsity experience cannot be duplicated anywhere - except maybe another Varsity. The food is the same as the first time I visited the Atlanta Varsity over 30 years ago! The young lady taking our order was friendly and helpful. My husband has a standard order so he rattled his off quickly. I had a few questions and she was... More

this restaurant was open late when we got into town and convenient to the Best Western. It was quaint and if you like burgers this is the place for you. the service staff was completely ambivalent to our presence.

Great chili dogs, hand cut fries, hand cut and breaded onion rings, these are the top of the menu. Burgers are OK, sandwiches are good. The place and the food has not changed in the past 50 years. I have eaten at the North Ave location and the old location in downtown Athens, this one is just as good. I have... More
