Different, unique food choices, yet made from familiar ingredients, something for everyone. Interesting and delicious cocktails. Outstanding service. If you are on a date, or have out of town friends or business associates to entertain, this would be my first choice in Athens.

Great service, wine list, and atmosphere. Our starter cheese plate was great and both meat entrees over priced, overcooked, and bordering on inedible (especially the chicken feature). Maybe, after reading National's other reviews, vegan or seafood is the way to go. If we return it will be for the wine and starters, the location next to the best venue in... More

Athens is quite a foodie scene now. One of my co-workers recently moved to a nearby city and she told me "you know what I miss about Athens? The food." It is so true. We have some amazing spots. One of them is The National. This is a place to go for a special occasion or just to celebrate life.... More

Stopped here with no reservations. They kindly found us a table in a short amount of time and the place was busy! We ordered pork, hummus, crab soup and a piazza. No Coke or Pepsi products but it was nice to drink water for a change. Tables are very close to one another so if you want privacy go elsewhere.... More

Located in the downtown area a few blocks from the University of Georgia, this small restaurant packs them in, with it's fairly extensive wine list, first class service, and excellent food. I tired the crab and corn soup first, and it was excellent. The special chicken dish was presented well, with taste to match, and there was absolutely no room... More

I have debated long and hard on whether or not to review The National because I don't want to be attacked for my opinion. However, I have finally decided to be honest because why I love Trip Advisor, for the honest reviews. First let me say that the food at The National isn't bad, it just isn't worth the money.... We are sorry to hear that your experience at our restaurant was not what you expected. It is never our intention to seem uppity or serve shrunken gourmet portions. Our menu is generally designed to offer two experiences -- tapas and appetizers to share or full entrees for the classic dining experience. Perhaps you dined with us during the time... More

Everyone raves about this place, but really it's nothing great. Reminds me of the Woody Allen joke: the food isn't that great and such small portions! But not small prices.

I am always hesitant that the restaurant won't live up to the hype I place on it- this place did on all accounts. Oddly what stuck out most (other than the food) was how sincerely nice the staff was. The ambiance is fun and loud and relaxed. We each ordered appetizers, entrees and wine. The wine selection had something for... More

What a wonderful evening! Great food & attentive service by every member of the restaurant team. The Stuffed Medjool Dates are a must for every visit. The Smoked Sablefish Spread was another tasty addition to our dinner. We were in a vegetarian mood & had the Mushroom-Black Pepper Fettucine & The Vegetable Plate. The mushrooms were unique & wonderful &... More

I have fallen in love with it. I've eaten here several times now. It is expensive, but it's worth it. I start with the stuffed dates every time because they are so so good, but the hummus and home made flatbread is a close second favorite. I like to go at lunchtime and get the Power Lunch, which is a... More
