Fresh and creative

Delicious food, a kitschy, hometown feel (I kept looking over my shoulder for my grandma and her friends), and such creativity on a plate! The produce is fresh and local and things I am still learning to eat, like radishes and fennel - done in a way that makes you want to eat it. Service is... read more

Great dishes, wonderful chef, nice wine list, relaxed and classy atmosphere. Also love having a cocktail, always very special and delicious before dining.

Really good dessert. Some sort of blueberry pound cake, with peach gelato, and pickled blueberries... Great appetizer and entrees. Service was excellent.

My fourth visit while traveling...can't miss for excellent food. The Confit Chicken was absolutely awesome. This is our go to place for a great lunch. Good choice of mixed drinks and local beers.

Great dining experience, wonderful ambiance, well prepared dishes, unique and fun! For a special treat, go on Monday or Tuesday night for "dinner and a movie" combo at Cine next door!

So thrilled to hear about your experience! Unfortunately we have discontinued our classic Dinner and a Movie program with Ciné; however we are still next door and doing events with them. This summer, we are offering some themed dinners paired with their Summer Movie Series. More

Since I live in Athens, I frequently go to The National. If you go at lunch, don't miss the Power Lunch, a complete protein of mixed vegetables, beans, cheese and other fresh ingredients. It's seasonal. For the warm version, the Super Bowl.

Its worth traveling to Athens for this chefs work. They use mostly local ingredients and we've never been disappointed here. The salads and veggie entrees are particularly good. Excellent wine selection!

Enjoyed our wait at the bar as reservation time was mostly a "miss" because of a busy night in Athens - UGA graduation and other local stuff. Nice wine selection by the glass. Dinner was fun and two of our three entres were home runs - trout and pork chop. Hangar steak was nothing special. Would definitely go back.

I love The National, but my husband who is very traditional and eats no birds, had a difficult finding something to eat on their limited menu. Bloody Mary's were great! And my lunch was superb!!! I had a Cobb Salad and last time I was there, I had their Chicken Salad and it is truly yummy.
