One of the best locavor chefs in Georgia

Its worth traveling to Athens for this chefs work. They use mostly local ingredients and we've never been disappointed here. The salads and veggie entrees are particularly good. Excellent wine selection!

Enjoyed our wait at the bar as reservation time was mostly a "miss" because of a busy night in Athens - UGA graduation and other local stuff. Nice wine selection by the glass. Dinner was fun and two of our three entres were home runs - trout and pork chop. Hangar steak was nothing special. Would definitely go back.

I love The National, but my husband who is very traditional and eats no birds, had a difficult finding something to eat on their limited menu. Bloody Mary's were great! And my lunch was superb!!! I had a Cobb Salad and last time I was there, I had their Chicken Salad and it is truly yummy.

Recommended by a friend, who joined us, and they accommodated his vegan diet without issue. We loved every bit of our meal. They even had a Langhe Nebbiolo on their wine list. Delicious!

If any restaurant in town is a local's favorite, this is the one. And to me that's always a great sign. While we were hanging out there, our waiter was telling us that most of the clients they get are locals that literally eat there 3-5 times per week. That's insane. The food here is really unique, a lot of... More

From the presentation to the taste, this is by far one of Athens finest restaurants. If you've not been, do yourself a favor and go. Sit on the covered sidewalk if it's open and people watch. Or grab that first booth once you walk in . The bar is a cool place to hang out too. Say hello to Peter... More

This is one of the best restaurants in Athens and Peter Dale is a gifted chef. The flavors are bold and the food is generally well-executed. The service is generally good, although we have had not so helpful servers. They had a Portuguese custard tart on the menu for years (although sadly not the last time I was there) that... More

We dined here with three other couples - all visiting the city. We selected the National because of Trip Advisor reviews. They were accurate. The menu was very interesting - though not particularly extensive. Each meal was well-prepared and attractively plated. There was something for every palate. Would recommend checking the menu on-line, just to make sure there's something attractive... More

A clear 5 stars. I'm from Europe and it's hard finding inventive, top notch cooking when on business in the mid west and south. This had it all. Delicious scallops, fried hake, chocolate torte. Perfect. Nice eclectic informal vibe too. Great wine list!

On a recent trip to Athens we made this our choice for our first dining experience. Reviews we found from varied sources were very high. We arrived and were awkwardly seated by the host in a tight space. Noise level very high and it was difficult for staff to access our table to interact with us during our visit. On... More
