Description: Experience traditional Japanese dining in a beautiful, authentic Japanese...
Experience traditional Japanese dining in a beautiful, authentic Japanese restaurant located inside the historic Casa Cakchiquel in Panajachel Guatemala. Restaurante Hana offers the rich traditions of Japanese home cooking with Chef Mihoko Azumi. Like we do in Japan, we cook with the seasons, and savor the peak flavor of ingredients. We adhere to the fundamentals of Japanese cooking: respecting the ingredients and their natural flavors, cooking in the moment, and not doing too much. Restaurante Hana presents a wide range of typical Japanese dishes including sushi, sashimi, tempura and all manner of lesser known dishes from the East, both large full dishes and smaller plates for sharing as well as daily specials. Restaurante Hana offers a welcoming multicultural family style dining setting for travelers as well as local customers. We look forward to serving you.

We took a chance in Guatemala.

I like to try sushi when I travel and Hana was one of the best I have had. The spicy tuna was very good. I'll be back for more. As far as price, I don't want my sushi to be too cheap for obvious reasons. It was fairly priced and the service was excellent.

I'm back after a few years away and hitting up the places I liked before. R. Hana has moved since my last visit and is doing even better than before. I've eaten here twice in 2 days. First meal was the raw tuna dipped in a soy sauce concoction (I neglected to write down the name) over rice. 60Q for... More

This simple Japanese locale is just what you need in a calm and relaxed vacation place like Panajachel. You can have a nice beer or sake in the garden while you eat sashimi and sushi. We went on a Friday where you can get ample sized fried shrimp rolls 2 for 1. We also enjoyed a plate of sashimi and... More

I have eaten at this restaurant for 3 years and their quality is always top notch. Since their move to a different location, they have started serving long hours. This is the only place I've found to get a great biscuit in Pana. Their wifi is excellent as well. I heartily recommend them.

During our January 2015 stay we ate at "Hana" on several occasions . On previous visits we ate when the restaurant was part of a Hotel on the way to San Antonio Palopo. My son David ,who lives in "Pana", lived in Japan for over 10 years and when we are in "Pana" we'd always go to the restaurant in... More

Location and service were nice enough. The museum was great. But I don't understand how this restaurant could have so many 5 Star reviews. I was so excited to find a new restaurant (to me) in Pana when I went on to Trip Advisor this morning, but after my visit, I was left so unsatisfied that I literally had to... More

Hana has a charming atmosphere, which is very quiet and great for group conversation. It is located in an historic building in Panajachel, with great architecture, and beautiful black and white photos from Guatemala's past. You won't want to miss this place. The owners are very involved in the restaurant. You will probably meet Mihoko, who is from Japan. This... More

Tripadvisor is definitely a great invention you can trust when traveling and thanks to fellow reviewers I discovered Restaurante Hana. You often think “Shushi in Guatemala ? Hm I don’t know….” but here you can definitely enjoy it without risk. The owner is a real nice Japanese lady and the fish was fresh and tasty. The garden is very nice... More

Restaurante Hana is a delightful little place in the historic Casa Cakchiquel. It is a peaceful lovely setting off the noisy mainstreet of Pana. Miyoko, the owner was charming and friendly. The food was well prepared and artistically presented. We discovered it after having breakfast in the equally great Jon's Desayunos, in the same building. Unfortunately we only had time... More
