I still can't figure out what makes Monroe's hot dogs so special? I loved them when I was a college student at Georgia Southwestern 20 years ago…and on a recent visit to Americus, I introduced my husband to Monroe's and he had not one, but two, of their famous chili dogs! (We are back in Los Angeles now but my... More

The hot dogs are still good here but I do have to agree with another viewer who said the hot dogs tasted a little different, my husband has been eating here since college and noticed that the hot dog was a little different but couldn't point out how. Anyway, you can't beat the prices!

Stopped here while on the SAM Shortline. Very good and staff very friendly. They do have menu items in addition to hot dogs, but that is what we ate and they were delicious. Bathrooms left a bit to be desire and never did find the billiard tables. If we find ourselves in Americus, we will certainly stop again.

Used to be the best hot dog place in town. Seems as of the wiener has changed. Even the staff has changed. As far as attitudes.

Our group planned a road cycling ride from Americus, GA to Plains, GA and back with the end of the ride at Monroe's. It was worth the ride. These were the best chili slaw dogs I've had in a long time. Of course, I normally avoid hot dogs but we just finished a 45 mile ride and hot dogs were... More

Downtown on Saturday of Labor Day weekend left us few choices. This place was very busy and looked like a hot local spot. We had scrambled hotdog which was a large portion. It was good but I have had better hotdogs.

"The Best Dog Ever Bitten by Man" is Monroe's slogan. The middle of the afternoon crowd seems to favor the combos along with some fries and a soda. I like the fact that I can keep my toppings sorted. The slaw offers a bit of bite which is perfect on that pink dog lazing in a bun and one that... More
