Description: We're certainly far from perfect, but we do try our best to create a winning experience for every single customer, whether they are hotel guests, Belizean neighbors or travelers staying at other hotels. Try pairing small plates with wines, choose from our creative main courses, or just enjoy some comfort food for breakfast or lunch. It's fun for us to meet new people and, well, just make them happy! Our casual beach bistro focuses on unique sauces and contemporary, tropical-themed flavor combinations while maintaining comfortable portions. Lots of fish and seafood. Bar service includes an 80-bottle wine list, local beer, rum drinks, and house specials. The outdoor atmosphere is casual so you can be comfortable in flip flops. Belize's "Restaurant of the Year" award was presented twice to the Bistro in June 2011 and May 2013.

Fantastic dining option right on the beach. Great extensive wine list that won't blow the budget. Some of our favourite menu items were the decadent lobster grilled cheese and the coconut shrimp which were the best we have ever had. If staying in Placencia village, taxis are your only real option at night which will run you $20US each way.... More

Maya Beach Bistro is a real treat for Sunday brunch or a fine dinner out. This is the place we take our guests to up the peninsula when we want a special time out. It has seaside ambiance w/ open air dining , a pool and bar. Australian owners Ellen and John make you feel welcome and the service is... More

The Bistro is one of the best restaurants in Belize. I highly recommend reservations, as even in the low season, they were needed each night we were there. About 20 minutes north of Placencia, it will also require a taxi or independent transport. There are no streetlights up that way, so I would not suggest biking or walking. The prices... More

Maya Beach Hotel is considered the best restaurant (according to Trip Advisor) - after visiting I can't quite see how people leave with this opinion. Service was moderately good, as was the food. Now, it was "better" than the hotel restaurant where we stayed (Chabil Mar) but only in the fact that there was more local fish on the menu... More

I frequent the Bistro and today I had "French Toast with Shrimp". It's ladled with a spicy, savory dark sauce with plenty of Umami (not your usual butter and syrup.) It's more of a big app than a meal. John can be quite creative. Another favorite of mine are the cheesy grits, try both when you get to the peninsula.

Wow! Exceeded our expectations. We stayed at the Maya Beach Hotel and ate dinner at the bistro the entire 5 nights of our stay. The price was more than fair for the excellent quality of the food. Great wine list! Amazing seafood dishes!
