Outstanding local cuisine

We had lunch here on our first full day in Belize. We had the five varieties of seafood in creole sauce. It was very flavorful and the portions were plentiful. Afterwards we had the key lime pie. It was absolutely the best key lime pie I have tasted. During our dining experience we met Omar... read more

Ordered from a limited menu, a combination dish, the waiter returned informing of items making up the dish wasn't available but could be substituted, went ahead with ordering from substitute. Was immediately disappointed with the portion as well as the taste of what they advertise as Caribbean Cuisine. The so called half portions was indeed very small and flimsy for... More

I loved this place. the cuisine feels very authentic and I just couldn't get enough. I had the crab which was phenomenal but lucky for me I came with 5 others and got to sample the rest of the menu. If you're in Placencia you need to check this place out. The restaurant is BYOB which I found to not... More

Omars was the most expensive restaurant we visited and the worse meal. We ordered a fish and a chicken meal. The chicken was tough and creole sauce was blaaa. The fish was very, very small piece. We left hungry. We informed tne owner and he basicly said tnat is how we do it here and walked away. Omars son has... More

Omar's is one of those wonderful Belizean restaurants that focus on good food & don't sweat the small stuff. The seafood is absolutely fresh and served simply with your choice of several sauces. They don't have a liquor license, but you're welcome to bring your own bottle of wine or beers; they're happy to provide you with openers. Fresh, simple... More

We stopped in for dinner one night and felt that the menu was really overpriced. They also don't serve beer/wine, so they advise you bring your own from the liquor store across the street. We ended up passing on dinner but went back for lunch the next day. I got a lobster burrito, which was perfect for lunch and quite... More

Omars was doing a brisk business when we were there but not sure why. I had the Mahi mahi done creole style and really had to go looking for the fish. Very small portion and it was barely warm. They threw in a few shrimp with my wife's shrimp dish. Not cheap either. There are better options.

This place was recommended by our bartender at the hotel we were staying at and it was GREAT. I had crab and red beans and rice and my husband had the tuna. We both loved our choices and would recommend it to anyone looking for some authentic and fresh Belizean cuisine. Note: it's BYOB

Omar's is a quaint, make yourself at home kind of place. The seafood is very tastefully prepared and you will definitely want to go back for more. The owner is often present and is very friendly, as the staff are also. Mmmmm........makes me hungry just thinking about it.

We shared seafood 3 way (crab, snapper & shrimp) with creole sauce for lunch. A large amount of seafood with large crab claws, and it tasted great!
