Dining in the Garden

I was invited for a night cap by a friend. The piniacolada was very nice, served with a smile. The waitress was very friendly and courteous and very pleasant. The outdoor was like a garden but we had to go indoor because it was raining cats, dogs and elephants. All in all I still had a great time... read more

This is a nice outdoors patio type restaurant. The menu was varied and the food was tasty. The help was friendly. It is right across the street from the Radisson Fort George.

Stayed at the Great House for a family vacation and ate breakfast and dinner at the Smoky Mermaid multiple times. Their traditional Belizian dishes are incredible. I'd highly recommend trying the "ceviche smash". The service was quick, all of the staff were very friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was beautiful. The Smoky Mermaid is a must if... More

The place reminded me slightly of Pat O'Briens in New Orleans with the open seating in-between the brick walls and the large white house. That is where the similarities end. The food was good and the service was enjoyable. It is in a nice area of town.

The interior of the restaurant is quite lovely...very tropical. I was with a group and the meal was pre-planned, so I didn't get to peruse the whole menu. We had fish and shrimp, which were quite good. The beans and rice were so-so and the key lime pie was delicious.

The tomato bisque was incredible. We also had the snapper, and the curry seafood mix. All good but the bisque took the cake. OK atmosphere. Strange that they have plastic chairs and tables.

Food was good, a little slow, but filled the bill. Prices were moderate and staff very accommadating. Bar is right there and the local beer was good, other drinks as good.as well. The restaurant is a large open patio style with many old trees, indigenous to Belize allowed for atmosfear, and shade during the day and cover at night. Fine... More

I really wanted to like this place. The ambiance was great, sadly that was all it had to offer. The waitress couldn't (or wouldn't) answer our questions and that should have been a sign. I felt like I was imposing. She spent most of her time sitting at the bar chatting with someone else that was sitting there. I was... More

While staying at The Great House, the hotel just above Smoky Mermaid, we found this restaurant to be very convenient and it did not disappoint! As soon as you pass through the front doors and although we were below our hotel, we were surprised to walk into a beautiful rainforest on an outdoor terrace. The ambiance felt romantic and private,... More
