Terrible little spot. It was like a bad neighborhood bar, but who cares the staf was friendly and the oysters excellent. Don't bother ordering anything else as its bad diner food.

I recently went here and its not the same as it used to be. I loved how they used to be right on the water. Food was still good, service was good, but the bathrooms were gross.

We stopped here for dinner on our first pass through Apalachicola this trip. The fish & the oysters that we had were all excellent. When the fish is so fresh it's possible to cook it with very little added to it in order for it to be it's best. The grouper that I had was simply broiled with just a... More

My wife and I had lunch here yesterday and had a wonderful lunch, especially her Caeser salad with grouper. The waitress was great and overall we had a lovely time. The only thing about Papa Joe's that's less than ideal is the decor. If you are looking for a pretty place to dine you won't find that here. Its all... More

I have written two other reviews of Papa Joe's when they were at the old place, on the water. The food is still very good and I would recommend anyone to go here versus other oyster restaurants in the area. Unfortunately, they had to move and the "old Florida" feel has been left behind. I agree with truebluesue, the new... More

Papa Joe can still shuck and cook oysters, but he really needs a decorator. I'll go back because the seafood is fresh and well-prepared, but the place was almost empty at 7:00 Friday night - not a good sign. Papa, you don't need fancy, just need to open up the place by knocking down the partitions, get rid of the... More

This place was recommended by a couple of locals - they must be rich! Husband and son wanted oysters which were extremely expensive so I ended up just eating a baked potato. Lunch was over $40 with drinks - whoa! Table wasn't clean. Entrance/exit created a bottle neck that made it very awkward to get in to get seats as... More

Papa Joes is as good as ever but doesn't have the water view that it had on Scopio Creek. It isnow located downtown in a building that was originally a grocery store. The food is still great and fresh. We had the grilled Grouper. There were large portions and the sides of salad and baked potato were fresh. Well worth... More

Stopped here for lunch. The oyster on the half were very big and tasty. They are however, served on a plastic cafeteria tray without any ice. This presentation is not very appealing. The service was excellent and friendly. We also had the grouper and crab cake sandwiches. While tasty, the bun disintegrated on the grouper sandwich. The decor needs help,... More

We went to Papa Joe's because it was about the only place open. It didn't look as nice as other nearby restaurants - inside or out, but the service was great, and everything we ordered was good. The shrimp and crab bisque was awesome! The non-seafood eater in the group loved the chicken alfredo. Very laid back atmosphere. Would definitely... More
