Raw oysters for breakfast!

Very nice restaurant. Breakfast on the river. Pretty view. Food was good. Father had raw oysters that make Appalchicola famous. I enjoyed the po'boy breakfast sandwich. Service was polite but slow due to a sudden rush of customers. However, they were apologetic and we enjoyed our meal.

Only 3 restaurants are open on Sunday in Apalachicola, so we chose Caroline's. You step back in time as you enter her violet dining room. We had a great table in the corner with windows overlooking the water on 2 sides. The menu was grossly sticky. We ordered fresh oysters to start. They arrived warm and filthy. They had not... More

We went here after being dissatisfied by the service at Boss Oyster. We walked in and were immediately seated. The restaurant was basically empty. We were seated near the kitchen where we waited and waited and waited. We listened to the staff talking, laughing, and having a good time in the kitchen as we sat 10 minutes for service. No... More

Stopped in for appetizers, bacon wrapped shrimp and corn and blue crab bisque, that was so heavenly; had dinner next night (Grouper Therapy was outstanding) and then breakfast 2 days later before leaving for home (biscuits - homemade!!) Alana went out of her way to accommodate our party of 2, then 6, and lastly 8 for breakfast!! She was there... More

Janelewis2015, Thanks for your uplifting review. Alana is a treasure. She is dedicated to Caroline's. She is there above and beyond the call of duty. Alana wants to make it right because she loves the proud heritage of this area. She is the seafood industry and she will take her time with you to explain why she is proud. As... More

Our family of five was really looking forward to our only dine out, authentic seafood meal during our 1st vacation in 5 years and first in Florida. The atmosphere and the scenery were good but that's about it. There was no music so we felt like we couldn't really relax and that our conversation would carry throughout the small restaurant.... Our visit to Caroline's was a very pleasant one. Servings were generous and and very tasty. Service was prompt and polite.. My friends had shrimp scampi and a pan-seared grouper dish. The scampi featured very large tender and succulent shrimp in butter sauce. The grouper dish was done with a garlic corn sauce... Unusual, but excellent. My own blue crab... More

We day tripped to Apalach while visiting family in Port St. Joe and stumbled on Caroline's. What a happy discovery! I asked the waitress for her recommendation and she said the Grouper Reuben was her favorite. It was a delicately fried huge hunk of juicy, flaky, melt-in-your-mouth grouper on light rye, dressed with slightly sweet cole slaw and 1000 Island... More

We go here for breakfast whenever we are in Apalachicola. I guess I said it all in a previous review that you can click on beneath this one. This time we got into Apalachicola around lunchtime, went to Boss Oyster first and stood there for 10 minutes without getting waited on, so we headed here. I had fish tacos that... More

The view and the atmosphere are GREAT. We stayed at the adjacent hotel - I had breakfast 3 times and dinner once. The seafood dish I ordered for dinner was so average I can't remember the name, good but nothing special. Service was above average but nothing special. The French Toast I ordered for breakfast on the third day was... More

One of the best French Toast I have ever had! Oyster omelette is amazing! We ate here twice in one week and service was good once. Other time it took 1 hour for our breakfast to arrive. What the heck takes an hour? There were no more than 10 people in the restaurant at the time. Caroline's: guests will NOT... More
