Hands down best in Apalach/Port St. Joe

My husband and I winter in the Cape San Blas/Apalachicola/Port St. Joe area. There are some quaint little raw bars with a rough charm of their own, but when we want a really good meal, a good wine list, friendly, caring service and a lovely ambiance we head for the Owl Cafe. Not many places open on a Monday evening in Apalachicola, but the Owl Cafe was, and we are glad we visited. I had a salad, and hubby shared his gumbo with me. It was a little pricey, but the food and service were very good. You might need a reservation if going on a Friday or Saturday.

The blue crab dip is the way to start with a glass of wine from a huge selection or a pint of beer from the local Oyster City brewery. All the entrees looked interesting and they tasted really fresh and delicious. I normally don't eat that much seafood but Owl Cafe made me a believer in seafood.

My sister and I were celebrating her birthday "week" with all her favorite places to go for lunch...this was at the top of her list. She lives on St. George, so it's handy to go over the bridge to Apalach! food and service were outstanding!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the Owl Cafe. The food was absolutely wonderful. We had oysters as an appetizer and ordered Grouper and the mahi special. The grouper was a little better than the mahi dinner. Our meals came with a delicious salad. The atmosphere is also very special. I would highly recommend dining here.

We enjoyed the shrimp tacos, crab and bay shrimp salad, Aplachacola oyster salad & olive oil, mushroom and spinach linguine with a side salad. For dessert we had custard with carmel topping. Everything was delicious and the service excellent. They also serve fresh bread while waiting for your entree. If you're a tea drinker, the tea is excellent as well... More

Consistently excellent food, Fab specials (ie: whole flash fried Thai snapper w/stir fried veg..to die for) not inexpensive but worth every $

The food and service here was great. We had the jambalaya, mussels & crab dip. All of which were amazing. I highly recommend the house-made green garlic ranch (we bought a bottle to take home).

Had dinner at the Owl Cafe, last evening. My favorite place for dinner, while visiting St. George Island. Dinner was as delicious, as always. Lindsay, our waitress was very personable and efficient. What makes Owl Cafe a notch above all others is the atmosphere and menu. Finally, a place you can have a nice, quiet dinner, that is not fried.... More

I recently posted a review of the Tap Room at the Owl Cafe, which I found mediocre and unworthy of its rating as the fourth best restaurant in Apalachicola. Before we left the area, my husband and I decided to bite the bullet and return to THE Owl Cafe for dinner. Are we glad we did! clean surroundings, white tablecloths... More
