Great Food, Outstanding Location

Locals recommended Rod & Reel Pier so we gave it a try. It is located at the end of a pier that is actively used for fishing. We had a fairly short wait on a beautiful so we spent it on the pier leading to the restaurant soaking up rays and watching a dolphin swim in the surf. When we... read more

We went to dinner knowing we would have to wait. They told us an hour and a half. Kept checking every so often and we had made little or no progress. I finally climbed the flight of stairs with my cane (back surgery Dec26) to the hostess to find out that she had been seating people whose names were below... More

We enjoyed a delicious outdoor dinner here with cold beers and really good, straightforward Florida vacation food. I had the po' boy and it was a thing of deep fried perfection. Their French fries, too, are top notch. And as always, the 360° view is it's own reason to go. We had solid service and will certainly return!

Great experience to take kids...fish on the pier for a reasonable price. Waited for a table only a short time. Fyi little kids can share a plate as portions are plenty. Grouper blackened sandwich was good. Great view as you eat.

We had a really good time in the bar waiting for our dinner reservation. Everyone was so friendly! There were four of us and we all had very good meals. Definitely a must while you are on Anna Maria Island!

Rustic pier and restaurant and the food was great. The grilled grouper was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. The view a great.

The Rod and Reel Pier Restaurant is, appropriately, located at the end of Anna Maria Island's northernmost pier. It offers everything from fishing (you can rent poles and buy bait) to great breakfasts (try the seafood omelet) to excellent lunches (today's special was a Mahi mahi sandwich, grilled fried or blackened, plus cole slaw and fries for about $12!). Wash... More

Walking out on the pier and watching the fishermen until you eat was fun. Actually eating at the restaurant, not so much. Food was just ok. Stick with the fried fish (the grilled fish was very dry). Expected more given the price, but still glad we experienced it.

Nothing fancy about this place, but the seafood is great (try the scallops), and it is fun to watch the locals fish off the dock while you wait for a table. Bring a jacket as you might be waiting (outside) for an hour for a table & when you get seated, it may be at an outside table - tends... More
