The location is the best part of the restaurant. It is TINY - maybe 8 tables inside? We had the fried grouper sandwiches which were mediocre at best - over cooked and the breading was heavy. The bun was huge and the sandwich was just an overall disappointment. We did have the fried clam appetizer and they were good, although... More

We always come to this pier everytime we visit Ana Maria island. The food and the people are great, and you can just sit and watch the birds, dolphins, and people fishing. Sooo calming and relaxing.

Another great place to relax, enjoy the sunset and eat a great meal. There is a little wait however it goes quick while you watch the birds feeding and the people fishing. There is nothing not to like.

Each year my wife and I take our ritual drive from Longboat Key to the tip of Anna Maria Island to the Rod and Reel for an early dinner. This year we went up there and to our surprise the Rod and Real looked different. It looked like it was remodeled. After we were seated at our table on the... More

Rod and Reel Pier was bustling with pleasant staff, great views and tasty food. It is at the Northern end of Ana Maria Island, and right over the water. We had to wait an hour plus to be seated on a busy Friday evening, as it is that popular! While most believe that waiting so long for food is a... More

The Rod and Reel Pier was a nice little restaurant on the water. We could see the activities taking place on the water and that was nice. The food was nothing special and priced appropriately. The flies were a nuisance inside and it was a little hot as we ate. Go for the experience and to say you visited Anna... More

The views from this quaint pier were amazing and we actually saw manatee, Tarpon and dolphins whilst eating. The staff were friendly and kept our mugs topped up with a lovely coffee and also took photos of me and my wife for a keepsake. The restaurant was quaint and kept in line with the laid back vibe of Anna Maria... More

This old island favorite is at the end of a pier (bring your fishing pole) where the beers and gumbo taste great. If you plan on dining for dinner, expect a long wait for a table. It's become quite the tourist spot over the years. The view is amazing, especially at sunset--so put in your name for a table, grab... More

Ok, to be honest there are two offerings that are similar in Anna Maria, City Pier also has some awesome views but I like them better for breakfast. Neither is 5 Star Dining but you get nice portions, good prices and endless views. Try anything with Grouper at the Rod & Reel.

Do not dine here if you are looking for 5-star seafood! But if you want to soak in the water, views of the Skyway Bridge and the occasional dolphin, it's a great option. Be prepared to wait but you can grab a drink (or two) and sit outside and look at the water. The menu has some upper-end items on... More
