Wandered into Alachua out of curiosity, decided to have lunch at the Conestoga Restaurant. Rustic, quaint atmosphere, friendly people. Amazing sweet potato fries, thick cut, not greasy at all. Excellent SMB - Swiss mushroom burger, well cooked, good seasoning. Conestoga salad had nicely flavored chicken pieces on top. Even the shell-your-own peanuts on the table have a subtle spicy flavor.... More

A great place to eat. If you have not had a Stogie Burger with sweet potato fries. You truely are missing something great! Great steaks, chicken, salads, and more. If for some reason you are unhappy, Just ask for Rick (the owner) and he will right any wrong. Good food, people, and service. Go hungry!

We have been eating at Conestogas in Alachua for over 20 years. It is a rustic old restaurant with western decor. It is not fancy, but that doesn't stop the patrons from coming. It is very busy and very popular with locals. However, the quality of the steaks has gone down considerably over the years! We celebrated our anniversary in... More

I'm astounded by the reviews that people are leaving for this restaurant. Mom & Pop steakhouse? Their steak is tough, flavorless and overcooked. Their decor is atrocious. Honestly I wonder if people know that 15 min down the road is the town of Gainesville which is a REAL town that has REAL food. Not greasy overcooked flavorless food. Or even... More

On a recent business trip I had the good fortune to eat lunch at this restaurant twice. Both meals were very memorable. On both occasions I had different waitresses. They were attentive, friendly and warm, making me feel like I was eating at the home of a friend. The menu is extensive and no matter what you get whether a... More

Has pretty good food and a big menu. Service has always been good and never have had a bad meal. Wish we had one in lake city,fl. Alachua is very lucky to have this restaurant on main street.

We have visited this restaurant a few times to give it a fair chance. Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to its reputation. The decor is typical "small town" restaurant; lots of dark paneling and obscure photographs. Plastic table cloths. The first time we visited there was an overwhelming smell of industrial cleaner. To be sure, the staff is very nice... More

This is one of our favorite restaurants! The service has always been excellent, and the food is very consistently good. My son and husband always order "The Northerner," a very large New York Strip; I usually order the fillet or the sirloin tips. We are all full when we leave, but sometimes stop and get some ice cream from the... More

every time we go there (once a month) everything is GREAT. The steaks, ham burgs, sweet potato fries. even the peanuts at the table. 5 stars all the way. Have to travel over 50 miles to get there but well worth it

The waitress was friendly and they gave us a free cheese cake slice and sang an original song for my birthday. I ordered the Conestoga jr steak which was very good, heavily seasoned. The green beans were very average. Potato was big but few toppings. Atmosphere is layed back and original. Not a reason to drive to Alachua but if... More
