The place for breakfast

For more than 10 years we have been going to the Wooden Spoon for breakfast on most Saturdays and Sundays. The food is excellent and the waitresses seem to enjoy working there and helping customers. The new owners have tried to keep up the same style with a few instances of more British food.

We live 25 minutes from here but had never heard of it until we camped recently at a nearby campground. We drove past it several times but didn't really give it a thought. When our son camped at the campground too, he noticed the restaurant and decided to try it. He came back RAVING about the raspberry stuffed French toast,... More

This restaurant is worth searching out -- but beware there might just be lines at the door on weekends. Our group of 4 (and then another visit with 8) was able to get seating together during the week without any problem. The staff are very accommodating and coffee and tea refills are offered freely. The omelets I've ordered have come... More

Sometimes when there aren't a lot of choices, the one available is great. That's the Wooden Spoon. Supergood corned beef hash, very tasty. Topped with a couple of over easy eggs and you've got a mighty fine breakfast. Toast was fresh and delicious. Coffee kept coming. Place fills up quickly but there seemed to always be room. Service was prompt... More

Cute breakfast place near UConn if you're in the area. Decent portion sizes and prices. I had cinnamon raisin french toast and eggs which were very good but not amazing. Waiting staff was very friendly and quick. They are cash only FYI!!

Very good breakfast fare with terrific service on Main Street of this idyllic little New England town. Lots of tables and counter service too Specials that all looked good - we will try one next time. We had corned beef hash with eggs and whole grain toast. Yummy! Price was right too.

Have been here for breakfast several times and never disappointed. Lots to choose from. their filled crepes are amazing. I have had their yummy hash and chicken fried steak and a chili filled omelet. Everything has been excellent. And the service is great. I just need to get back there and try lunch!

We have been eating breakfast at The Wooden Spoon since it first opened many years ago. We eat there at least several times a month. The staff is delightful and knows us by name. Food is good . Everyone that we have brought there loves it and asks to go back. It has new ownership now, but we don't see... More

You will need go up and read the specials for yourself. It's cool. Watch all the regulars go right up. The service is great and food is hometown fine but no frills. You will find burgers, dogs, soups and sandwiches. Honestly no need to make a special trip but it's very nice that a place where regulars go is still... More
