Went to Montagna in part based on the reviews read all over the place online. Service was very attentive and the food was outstanding. The paté was the best surprise of the evening. Main entree was rich and entertaining to the palate. Wine list is first rate, extensive and well.. expensive. Only glitch of the evening was receiving a glass... more

After doing much pre-visit research and reading reviews, Montagna was going to be our 'civilized' lunch during a day's rest from the slopes. The beginning of our experience went quite well -- we found the 1/3 full dining room to be lovely, if a bit dated. The starters of frizze salad and tortilla soup were well presented and very tasty.... more

Apparently the chef is a fan of Giada de Laurentiis. For significantly less than the price of one entree at Montagna you can purchase her cookbooks and easily prepare the same meals. We ordered the beef tenderloin with arugula (see de Laurentiis cookbook "Everyday Italian" p. 146 and just substitute wild mushrooms for the roasted peppers) and the lamb with... more

I did my research before our trip to Aspen and wanted to plan a nice meal for me and my husband to start out the vacation. Unfortunately, the Montagna was a bomb, and it put a damper on the first day of our trip. The restaurant was beautifully appointed, and the wait staff seemed quite well-trained...Until we sat down. We... more

Ate here Feb 1st 2008. Was a GREAT experience…The service was excellent and all were very friendly from the hostess to the rest of the staff…In fact the sommelier even approached a teenager dining with other teens at a table apart from their parents, and asked her to stop lighting matches and blowing them out, afraid that the smell would... more

We were a party of five and each of us was impressed and pleased with our evening at Montagna. The waitstaff is highly professional, the menu is filled with great choices, and the wine list is encyclopedic. Everything we ordered, the salads, pastas and entrees were expertly prepared and cooked perfectly. We could only get a 6:15 reservation, but our... more

January 31, 2008 We selected Montagna because of their reputation and Wine Spectator Award, plus we were staying at The Little Nell. The service and ambience was excellent. I was pleased by the help I recieved from the semolier(wine steward). The menu entrees were excellent. One dish we were dissapointed with was a special for the evening, red mullett. This... more

I love food and have had many nice meals but the dinner at Montagna was by far the most incredible dining experience I have ever had. Our waiter's suggestions were always terrific. We did not have one bad item. I believe the menu changes, but if you're going soon, I highly recommend the Homemade Mozzarella and the pate. Both are... more

Loved everything about this meal but what really made it great was the attention to detail. This place cares about your dining experience. Every person on the staff from the front desk to the person who crumbed our table cared about our dining enjoyment. The food was imaginative and flavorful. The wine was paired perfectly and the cheese course: awesome.... more

Terrific food! This was my favorite meal in Aspen. The only criticism that I may have is that the small plates are VERY small. I don't usually like large portions, but after a day of hard skiing, I could have used maybe 30-50% more on my plate. The food and wine are excellent! It is a fun place to people-watch.... more
