Great unique menu - service spotty at best

This is one of our annual dining experiences when we visit Aspen. Located "downstairs" in a smallish cozy atmosphere. We have never been able to experience menu items like the ones prepared here. If unique, adventurous, tasty, spicy is what you seek this restaurant is for you. Normally we have a... read more

Have been in aspen for 4 days, and until tonight all dinners have been massively disappointing. Family went here for dinner tonight, and universally we all agreed it was our best meal so far, far superior to pyramid bistro and steakhouse 316. The meals were all seasoned well, but as the wait staff will warn you, they are spices. There... More

We were looking for more than the standard Tex-Mex and found this home of Oaxacan cuisine. Every dish we tried was very good to excellent, and all went well with their Mojitos and Margaritas, which came with a selection of fresh fruits and Tequilas. The guacamole app was a ball of freshly made guacamole in a bowl of mildly spicy... More

Downstairs, right off Hyman, is Zocalito. I've been here twice and never really had a good meal. It's not bad... just not good. Staff is very nice.

We went here for the first time after passing by for years. We are SO glad we did--the cuisine was truly authentic, and I loved how many of the special ingredients (such as the peppers used to make hot sauces) were brought in by the head chef from local farmers in Mexico and Peru. We had incredible service, and our... More

Host/waiter/bartender was very rude to each person in our party at different times, and slow. Wife got sick after eating a shrimp plate. I observed the only other waiter leave the bathroom after NOT washing his hands...he was in a stall having a bowel movement. I took the time to speak to the owner/chef. I told him the duck was... our 3 time to Zocolito. Getting to be our favorite, must go, restaurant in Aspen. Last visit, Ian M, was the waiter. He really made our evening. Possibly the best service ever. We trusted Ian to do all the ordering for our table of 4. He really came through. Great job.

Our first time here and it starts out with uncertainty as it is located off the mall, and downstairs. But once seated it became more comfortable, with the friendly service and interesting sculptures inside (see pic)... Food was much more interesting than we expected. We started out with the Tostado de Cabrito (baby goat, see pic) and it was delicious.... More

I used to go to this place just for the mojitos which were very good, until they changed the way they do the drink, and now they are not worth the trip. My last time there we went for dinner as I had been given a gift card for this place, and by looking at the prices of the food... More

This little bistro is tucked behind and below some shops in downton Aspen. Staff was friendly and the dinner was delicious - we enjoyed both steaks and seafood. Walls were decorated with masks. The mojitos are their specialty - I recommend one!
