Authentic Oaxacan Cuisine

Zocalito is one of Aspen's hidden gems - an insider place frequented by locals serving some of the finest food in the city. The quality and authenticity of the food is consistently inspiring, and the prices are among the most affordable in this town. Highly recommended!

The colorful outdoor seating in the street median got my attention, but we chose this restaurant for the menu. We were not disappointed. Varied menu with some Mayan and one Peruvian dish. Loved my slow cooked tamales and the mojito. Everyone in our party loved their food. Not particularly pricey considering it's not burgers and in downtown Aspen.

Really enjoyed the patio here. The inside is a bit dreary but the food is really tasty. We loved the shrimp ceviche and the tamales. The mojitos are also really tasty too!

This is a great off the beaten path place for a delicious dinner or apres ski drink and appetizer. The chicken chile relleno is awesome and their take on guac and salsa and chips is fabulous!

They have tables set up right in the middle of the shopping district, so you have great people watching while you dine. Superb salsa/guac combo with high quality ingredients. I had lamb tacos that had very good flavor and spice $18.00 just take them out of the little dish they are served in or they will fall apart. we also... More

This restaurant is downstairs in a little alley right off of Hyman. There is a varied menu with some unusual Latin dishes offered. The food was good - just not great!! The interior is colorful and once you get past the bar is very cozy. The service was good and the staff is friendly. Probably won't go back....

High end mexican dishes prepared in an innovative manner by a French master. Dont be fooled by the simple feel of this basement establishment, the food will captivate your taste buds and show you what true Mexican flavor can be. Probably the best Mexican dishes we have ever had and this is being said by people who have visited mexico,... More

We had a great meal with good service at a table of 7 people, unfortunately our nice dinning experience was stained when the manager came to our table and told us that it was too much work/hassle for him to take more than 2 credit cards. Which normally would be understandable but we spent a lot of money and were... More

What's NOT to like about this place? I've been there several times in the past. I will go there again many more times in the future. Their New Head Bartender is a hoot. I suggest you don't get him going too much. You could end up spitting some of your drink out laughing your butt off. The Dude is a... More

A different excellent twist on Mexican Food. Not to be missed. You will not find the typical burritos, chimi's or taco's there. Instead you will find inventive sauces, unusual chilis, different combinations. If you are in Aspen and are tired of the many Italian or French restaurants then you much try it. BTW the restaurant is in a basement (with... More
