Famous watering hole.

This used to be the hangout for Hunter S. Thompson and his pals. Still a local's place, but now visited by lots of tourists. Decent food, the trout was really good. This is after all, a tavern. Cool, rustic atmosphere. Parking is across the 2-lane road, and there is almost always a... read more

A long time favorite of locals and visitors, tons of character and cool memorabilia all over the walls, local history. WCT is always a "go to" place when I'm in Aspen.

My friend told me about this place and spoke highly of it so we decided to pay a visit. The food is ok except the house salad doesn't look very fresh. The service can be improved, a lot. The waitress didn't bother to ask how we want our burger cooked and just assumed everyone want medium rare, and she took... More

We ate lunch here after hiking around Maroon Bells. They have a large outdoor section, a bar with five beers on tap, and a great casual atmosphere. We had steak and hominy soup, guacamole with chips, local draft beers and a smoked salmon appetizer. Definitely low key place...frequented by cyclists and families alike

We rented bikes in Aspen and followed the Rio Grande Trail to Woody Creak Tavern. The trail ride is great and most people stop at this venue for food and drinks before turning around and heading back to Aspen. We had drinks and appetizers. The bar has indoor or outdoor seating. The staff is friendly. Worth a visit and if... More

I have been a fan and customer of the Tavern for almost 20 years. Things haven't changed very much since then. The food and service are about the same. It will normally be crowded as it isn't as much a local place now, but that is ok and probably good for business. The burgers are the best around.

What a great hole in the wall place! The least expensive meal our entire trip and one of the best. Great house margaritas, really good New Mexican food - Steak Tampequena, Green chili pork, great BBQ ribs and this is from someone from Texas. Highly recommended, but it is a small place so be sure to check wait times. Pool... More

If your looking for a place unique with its own story, this is the place for you. Located in a trailer park on a beautiful clear creek, off the beaten path. The food is just bar food, nothing fancy and the prices are fair when compared to where you are at! (Aspen) the beers are cold, the customers lively, and... More

This is a great out of the way place, not in town, but worth the drive or bike ride. It has a great bar - margaritas are my favorite, but a good choice of beers on tap. My husband always goes for the hamburger - one of the best anywhere; I like the Mexican choices, last time I had the... More

My wife and I were skiing at Aspen Highlands and decided to ski to the base area for lunch. I looked around and saw two options, choosing Woody Creek Bistro near the Exhibition lift. I was intrigued by the truffle fries and onion soup and the salads looked good. The prices were low considering this is Aspen. We had the... More
