Some of my favorite restaurant "finds" are hole-in-the-wall kinds of places, and if the Woody Creek Tavern were anywhere other than where it is it'd succeed admirably at achieving that awesome vibe. As it is, it's far too well-known as Hunter S. Thompson's haunt and far too close to all of the Aspen pretty people to fit that description any... More

We go to Aspen at least 2 or 3 times a year. Each time we HAVE to go to Woody Creek Tavern. I think it is our favorite place in the Aspen area. Good margaritas, great food, love the ambience. Not to mention the super waitresses! If you go on Wed or Sat you can get their Filete Tampiquena skirt... More

We had been there about 10 years ago and it had not changed (other than having Guinness on tap). It is a little place with a small bar, a couple of t.v's and a lot of ambiance. Good company, good beer and good appetizers made for a fun evening. Service was very attentive and prompt. Yes, when you are outside... More

We were in Aspen last week and had heard of the Woody Creek Tavern so decided to check it out. We found it easily enough but after driving to the front and looking at what we saw...it was very easy to NOT go in! The drive back the creek was nice but the tavern sits in front of a run... More

First we waited at the "a waitress will seat you or beat you" sign for about 5 at an empty restaurant. We told someone would seat us three different times. When we were seated outside at a very dirty table we were asked what we wanted for drinks, the water came fast bit we had to ask twice for our... More

This place has probably been around since the old mining days. It is a comfortable "come as you are" lunch spot frequented by Rio Grande Trail cyclists and locals. We sat outside and enjoyed reasonably-priced sandwiches and a drink.

We drove 25 minutes from Aspen to try this based on reviews. It was empty and that should have been the first clue 330PM or not. We waited by a sign that said wait here and your waitress will seat you or beat you. No one came. We entered the tavern and no one offered to seat us so my... More

I spent a relaxing evening by myself at bar talking with locals. Felt very at home and the food was excellent. Best part of my trip to aspen and I will definitely be back. Great watering hole away from craziness and glitz of aspen

Out of the tourist way, this is a funky, log cabin local place. Patio covered with lots of strings of lights at night. Pretty darn good eats, good margaritas and specials. Friendly wait staff. You'll want to go back often.

We only had a margarita which wasnt actually that good and the food they were serving looked quite scary as they were burning the burgers a bit too much and the fried stuff was almost black, but it is worth a visit. Outside flashy snowmass and Aspen this place seems to retain a feeling of what Colorado people are all... More
