Famous watering hole.

This used to be the hangout for Hunter S. Thompson and his pals. Still a local's place, but now visited by lots of tourists. Decent food, the trout was really good. This is after all, a tavern. Cool, rustic atmosphere. Parking is across the 2-lane road, and there is almost always a... read more

I've been going here for over 20 years and finally got around to writing a review. Amazing eclectic vibe and great bar food. Add the fact that it's out of the way and hard to find and you have the makings of a legendary venue. Drink in the footsteps of Hunter S. Thompson as you kill a few more brain... More

Really enjoyed taking my family. Everyone loved there food. The kids loved having there picture taken and put on the wall. The staff was very friendly. The food was served quickly. You can sit on the patio or inside. Overall, great night out with the family.

The margaritas are powerful and really tasty, as is the food. The Mexican food is a cut above the rest. Bring cash and expect a unique experience. Appoint a designated driver if you plan on having a second margarita.

The place was much smaller than I imagined it would be. This tavern has great food and the pictures on the wall are encouraged. Of course, our picture is now hanging above the maracas on the pillar. the tavern is a short ride from Owl Farm and a 5 minute jaunt from Aspen. if you are in the area and... More

A long time favorite of locals and visitors, tons of character and cool memorabilia all over the walls, local history. WCT is always a "go to" place when I'm in Aspen.

My friend told me about this place and spoke highly of it so we decided to pay a visit. The food is ok except the house salad doesn't look very fresh. The service can be improved, a lot. The waitress didn't bother to ask how we want our burger cooked and just assumed everyone want medium rare, and she took... More

We ate lunch here after hiking around Maroon Bells. They have a large outdoor section, a bar with five beers on tap, and a great casual atmosphere. We had steak and hominy soup, guacamole with chips, local draft beers and a smoked salmon appetizer. Definitely low key place...frequented by cyclists and families alike

We rented bikes in Aspen and followed the Rio Grande Trail to Woody Creak Tavern. The trail ride is great and most people stop at this venue for food and drinks before turning around and heading back to Aspen. We had drinks and appetizers. The bar has indoor or outdoor seating. The staff is friendly. Worth a visit and if... More

I have been a fan and customer of the Tavern for almost 20 years. Things haven't changed very much since then. The food and service are about the same. It will normally be crowded as it isn't as much a local place now, but that is ok and probably good for business. The burgers are the best around.
