Famous watering hole.

This used to be the hangout for Hunter S. Thompson and his pals. Still a local's place, but now visited by lots of tourists. Decent food, the trout was really good. This is after all, a tavern. Cool, rustic atmosphere. Parking is across the 2-lane road, and there is almost always a... read more

I have been a fan and customer of the Tavern for almost 20 years. Things haven't changed very much since then. The food and service are about the same. It will normally be crowded as it isn't as much a local place now, but that is ok and probably good for business. The burgers are the best around.

What a great hole in the wall place! The least expensive meal our entire trip and one of the best. Great house margaritas, really good New Mexican food - Steak Tampequena, Green chili pork, great BBQ ribs and this is from someone from Texas. Highly recommended, but it is a small place so be sure to check wait times. Pool... More

If your looking for a place unique with its own story, this is the place for you. Located in a trailer park on a beautiful clear creek, off the beaten path. The food is just bar food, nothing fancy and the prices are fair when compared to where you are at! (Aspen) the beers are cold, the customers lively, and... More

This is a great out of the way place, not in town, but worth the drive or bike ride. It has a great bar - margaritas are my favorite, but a good choice of beers on tap. My husband always goes for the hamburger - one of the best anywhere; I like the Mexican choices, last time I had the... More

My wife and I were skiing at Aspen Highlands and decided to ski to the base area for lunch. I looked around and saw two options, choosing Woody Creek Bistro near the Exhibition lift. I was intrigued by the truffle fries and onion soup and the salads looked good. The prices were low considering this is Aspen. We had the... More

Woody Creek Tavern is definately a different experinece from the other many fine restaurants in Aspen. It is ecclectic, fun and has good food that is sometimes a welcome change. Go with a flexible attitude, have funand enjoy!

No trip to Aspen would be complete without a stop at Woody Creek Tavern. We have been coming to the valley for almost 10 years, and we wouldn't miss our mandatory visit to WCT! It's not the typical Aspen watering hole. In fact, is a little off-beat. It's definitely eccentric. Fun. Zany. It's located adjacent to a trailer park, and... More

It was a small diversion for us, but well worth it. It's just a funky place that also serves decent food.

Truly a hole in the wall, but one with hearty good food, great beer, and lots of history. Take cash, no credit cards. Be patient and prepared to wait, just enjoy the experience.
