We've been Fawn Brook customers for many years, but the latest visit left us pretty sure we won't return again. The food was a long way below the level we've come to expect. The vegetarian entree was extremely poor. The main ingredient was steamed cauliflower: large chunks that had no spice of any kind, not even butter, salt and pepper.... More

We were looking forward to our return trip to the Fawn Brook. Don't know what happened but most of the food in our expensive meal was horrible. The escargot appetizer had no taste and actually made me gag. It was sent back. Our soup and entrees (halibut and schnitzel) were bland and nothing extraordinary. The halibut had sliced scallops on... More

WE have been to the Fawn Brook Inn 3 times and will never go back. We kept hoping we'd get the quality that others have raved about, but honestly, the food was terrible. The escargots was in a gooey, not flaky, puffed pastry, it was oily and mostly filled with mushrooms, not snails. Their version of pork Schnitzel had no... More

Interesting and superbly cooked entrees Service is excellent. It is not inexpensive (about $50/person including service), but you'd pay a lot more for less in an urban setting. Reservations are essential.

The escargot appetizer was nothing special - in a puff pastry with mushrooms and a bland sauce. The chicken piccata was overcooked and lacking flavor. The rack of lamb was ok but not special, and if there were truffles you couldn't tell. The person in our party who had the steak au poivre liked it, although it was not pepper... More

We were very surprised at this "out of the way" restaurant. We were staying up the street and walked down for dinner. The outside patios were amazing. The plants were beautiful and the hummingbirds were all over the place.. Very, very nice front appearance and patio areas. The food was very good.. although pricey that should be a surprise for... We have been going to the Fawn Brook Inn for many years, and have had experiences ranging from superb to so-so. We are big supporters for Will, Mieke and Hermann and this unique restaurant. It has a charming ambiance, with lovely gardens, flowers and hummingbirds, and a Teutonic mountain interior that is cozy and intimate. That said, our recent meal... More

This is an extraordinary restaurant nestled into quaint little Allenspark, CO. The couple have been running it since 1979. The building is a beautiful log structure decorated with gorgeous European touches. The staff have a level of sophistication that adds to the charm of this extra special restaurant. We began with a lovely smoke salmon and capers appetizer that was... More

Never been to restaurant quite this unique. The owners live upstairs and the restaurant is in different rooms downstairs. Very old world European and quaint. The friendly owner/hostess, knowledgeable waiter, beautiful setting and food the highlight! It is a one of a kind, kind of place. We had oysters, jaeger schnitzel and Elk. I know the duck is their specialty.... More
