A Good Evening

When you walk into the restaurant it smells musty. There were many tables that were dirty and it wasn't a busy night. The prices average $18 but the quality of the food that is served does not match the price. One of the things I expect when I pay $18 or more is real butter on my baked potato.

This the best steak house in town! It is a little expensive, but well worth it. All entrees are named after a John Wayne movie, clever. The best steak on the menu is the Sons of Katie Elder. It can be cut with a butter knife. DO NOT order it well done, that is sinful and will take forever to... More

Driving down 25 South, heading to Alamosa and all you see is BEEF. After the long drive all I wanted was a cold beer and a Great Steak. True Grit Delivered! Good steak, good baked potato ( did not know that Alamosa is a grower of Good Baked Spuds) and cold beer. Folks that ate at the restuarant were friendly... More

Delicious steaks, chicken, and fish. A bit pricey, but the steaks woth it if that's what you are craving. Nice atmosphere toward the back of the restaurant, and lots of John Wayne pictures all over the walls.

We're locals, & this is 1 of our 2 favorite places to go for steak (True Grits has more of a selection than the other 1). Yes, the building is very old & doesn't look like much (especially from the outside), but the steaks are to die for! There are a lot of steak choices, & they also serve ribs,... More

Has a John Wayne theme. All the food selections are named after John Wayne rolls or movies. Good selection of steaks and seafood combos.

It was a good thing we made reservations for our party of 9, they where busy that night. The waitress was a little overwhelmed but she was very pleasant and nice. Everyone was happy with their food. I read a few reviews about the dark atmosphere, it was much better. It was well lit and very comfortable.

The steaks were cooked just right and tender. Baked potato just right. Salad good. Prices very reasonable for a steakhouse. Waitress was a student, and bright and attentive.
