Great meal, wonderful wine choices. We always come here on our trips to Catalina to celebrate my wife's birthday and our anniversary. Villa Portofino never disapoints. Marvelous appetizers, great seafood and Italian choices, delicious desserts, nice ambiance, a lovely time was had by all.

Fortunately the surly waiter that turned us away at 4:30 for a5 PM reservation did not serve us. The lady serving us was really nice, and the fish fresh and delicious. The service was prompt and they got us out in time to catch the ferry back to mainland. The location is at a traffic circle with many loud and... More

Pasta and veal were excellent. Nice atmosphere and fancy for Avalon. Lot of food so we skipped dessert. Came back the next night for dessert only. Chocolate torte and Tiramisu are well worth it. A must in Avalon.

Might have given this nice spot on the Catalina front street 4 stars. Pretty good food. Service was nice. Price was ok. Biggest complaint - we had 15 people, ordered multiple apps and drinks, and 2 couples ordered large/expensive entrees to share and when the bill came, not only did they add on an automatic 20% gratuity (many restaurants will... Enjoyed a table outside on a beautiful evening. The menu is large and we were all pleased with our choices. I had the veal Marsala. It was served with pasta and fresh vegetables. Very good. For dessert I had the panna cotta with fresh fruit. An excellent evening.

It was the perfect evening to dine on the Patio at Portofino. The weather was perfect and when we arrived for our 6:30 reservations they had our table waiting. We were celebrating a birthday and they even mentioned it as they were seating us. It was a very difficult decision - the menu is wonderful, but we picked out several... More

I recently took a trip to Catalina Island for the first time with a friend. Before departing the Catalina Express terminal from downtown Long Beach, I picked up a brochure on the Restorante Villa Portofina. It seemed like a nice place to go for a quality Italian dinner. When we arrived, we were seated & our waitress brought us a... More

Stayed at the Villa Portofino hotel, they made reservations for us - arrived on time, got choice of inside or outside table (outside of course!). First off - bread is warm, crusty and soft inside (A+). Drinks came often for refills, Tortellini and Seafood linguine were superb. Didn't do dessert. For the view and excellent food- this is a go-to... More

Carol served us a terrific couple of meals. The apps, main and desserts were all good. New Zealand green lipped mussels were substituted for the usual black mussels, otherwise the seafood was local, fresh and so tasty. More seafood variety on the pasta than expected made it the right choice. The chocolate cake to finish the meal was too filling.

Restaurant had great ambiance, wonderful waiters and excellent food. If Catalina Island were just a kayak ride away, I would go every week.
