Lots of places to eat on Catalina. This was just very average Chinese food, and my husband and I were bummed that we hadn't spent one of our too-few evenings on the island at a different restaurant. Food was OK, but it's just not a place I'd go back to.

Our group of 4 had skipped lunch and were starving around 3:30 so we headed over to Mr. Ning's. WARNING, they close between 3:00-4:30. We decided to wander around and wait it out, we had our heart set on Chinese food by this time. We were glad we did. We came back at 4:30 and were seated immediately. We picked... More

We sampled their sauteed green beans on our food tour. I as well as several others in our group thought they were very salty. The restaurant could use some cleaning as well.

They really make an effort! The food is okay and it is in the center of town. They have late hours and you will find them open for a late meal.

We tried this restaurant for the first time in 20+ years of coming to Catalina Island. I was impressed by the fact that it's run by people who know chinese food, and the food was excellent. We will definitely make this another one of our dining spots in Avalon.

Always a pleasant spot to go to with very friendly staff. However today had an upset stomach and was recommended by Eric to pop in. The chicken with noodles and extra ginger soup was brought home and devoured!!! Very generous helping and feeling much better!! Really good.

Fast service good food for the price and very friendly. The staff seemed to know almost everyone coming in to eat or picking up takeout. Getting to the restroom was a bit of a maze but not really a deal killer.

Living in San Franciso one gets spoiled with good authentic Chinese food. For Catalina this is the only place to get Asian cusine. The quality is just so so. For one who loves good Chinese food, you might what to stick to the mainland.

I love Mr. Ning's. I love coming to eat here with the warm friendly staff. Jan is Awesome. I love the orange chicken, the fried fish and shrimp, and their soups are good too. They can modify almost anything for you. Lunch menu is the best value but a nice dinner spot with a few to the busy street outside.

Our meal was only average and one dish did not meet our expectations. I don't mind unseasoned food, I almost never use salt, and maybe a little pepper but otherwise I drive my wife crazy when I don't add seasoning when cooking. But our meal went beyond that, the chicken chow fun was completely flavorless and the orange chicken was... More
