A pleasant surprise. Good food, ample quantity, friendly service and decent prices. Decor is nothing great but the food makes up for it. We would go to Mr. Ning's again for sure.

Traveler beware...stick with the local FRESH food on the Island. Maybe Catalina Island is not the place to have Chinese food.

This place is the best, big portions and great price. I never miss it when I come to visit. They have a course meal which you can substitute another dish if you want something else on their list. Hopefully your room had a frig and or microwave because you will probably have left overs.

Our favorite restaurant in Avalon, for many visits. The Chinese food is among the best I've ever had (that includes New York, L..A. and San Francisco). Service friendly and expert. Ambience and decor very fine, not pretentious (the hanging parasols are a great touch on the ceiling). We usually come to Avalon for four to five days, and we often... More

The food is always well prepared and well served. We love to go there and experience the new dishes one the menu. The service is always prompt and pleasant. I would recommend this restaurant for a pleasant evening.

Lots of places to eat on Catalina. This was just very average Chinese food, and my husband and I were bummed that we hadn't spent one of our too-few evenings on the island at a different restaurant. Food was OK, but it's just not a place I'd go back to.

Our group of 4 had skipped lunch and were starving around 3:30 so we headed over to Mr. Ning's. WARNING, they close between 3:00-4:30. We decided to wander around and wait it out, we had our heart set on Chinese food by this time. We were glad we did. We came back at 4:30 and were seated immediately. We picked... More

We sampled their sauteed green beans on our food tour. I as well as several others in our group thought they were very salty. The restaurant could use some cleaning as well.

They really make an effort! The food is okay and it is in the center of town. They have late hours and you will find them open for a late meal.

We tried this restaurant for the first time in 20+ years of coming to Catalina Island. I was impressed by the fact that it's run by people who know chinese food, and the food was excellent. We will definitely make this another one of our dining spots in Avalon.
