Fly in for a buffalo burger

How could you not love flying to an island to have a buffalo burger? Great views, great burger, great cookies. After an awesome flight from San Diego, we hiked the airport loop trail, saw a bison, and enjoyed some terrific views. What a great day trip to the "airport in the sky".

My husband and I have been to DC-3 Grill at the Catalina Airport for many years, and it stands the test of time. It's a casual grill at one of the high points of Catalina Island and has wonderful views. The rustic, picnic-like atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating is relaxed and charming, the food is very good, and the... More

Best cookies west of the west coast! Seriously, don't come here without trying them. Eating on the back patio is great. Sweeping view. Moderately priced.

Ive been here numerous times and just last week finally tried the burger. It was really good. The cookies are huge and run about $2.50 I believe. My wife always wants to go there just for the cookies and usually ends up staying for a main course. A great thing to do is order your food and sit outside overlooking... More

On our Inland Expedition Tour, our guide, Stephen, recommended the Killer Cookie at the Airport restaurant. OMG...it is sooo good and truly a meal in itself. I bought the Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Walnut. For 2.50, it's HUGE and so homemade yummy delicious. It was a very nice indulgence for the day!

We stopped here on our tour of Catalina. One of our family members, who lives on the island, recommended that we go there for lunch. This is not a 5 star gourmet restaurant. They have sandwiches, buffalo burgers and even tacos. It's a simple menu and is tasty. The cookies are great. You can eat your lunch on the back patio... More

I wasn't sure what I'd get when I took a tour that stopped here for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the restaurant and gift shop. My husband got the bison tacos (he figured he'd never see that on another menu!) and I got the grilled cheese on sourdough. The food is cooked to order and you get to choose... More

We flew in for a “$100 Hamburger” (See my review titled “New favorite "$100 Hamburger" destination!”) We had the buffalo burger with bacon and their awesome “killer cookies.” The cookie must have weighed a pound—which will probably turn into 2 pounds on me. You can sit inside or out; nice patio seating. Service was expedient and friendly. To get to... More

If you fly into Airport in the Sky as we did or take the bus up there to eat and see the interior, get yourself a snack and a drink at the DC-3. We were the only people there while we waited for the bus....and a Piper Seneca doesn't carry too many. The folks there (and up in the control... More
