We went to a restaurant in this location several years ago and it was awful. Since then we have avoided the spot remembering our experience. Our B&B recommended the Lobster Trap and since they had recommended another restaurant that was excellent, we gave it a try. We should have gone years ago! If you ambience, go some place else. We used Trip Advisor for a recommendation on the best place to eat in Avalon on Catalina Island. The Lobster Trap didn't disappoint at all. They had great chowder, and there were plenty of delicious fish options on the menu. With great prices and a relaxed atmosphere, it was the perfect sojourn after a nice stroll around the island. I... Family friendly great fresh fish. Ate lunch here and took fish to go for two evening dinners at home. Must visit the trap next time you are on Catalina

We were searching for a place to have dinner and checked The Lobster Trap as recommended by some of the locals. The atmosphere is loud and fun and extremely family friendly. They had a kids menu and lots of choices for the adults as well. We had to purchase water to drink due to the water shortage but that seems... More

This was our number one spot during our day and a half on Catalina Island. The menu selection and portions met everyone's wants needs and desires. The seafood was exceptional. The service more than met our needs. The value--perfect. Some folks may lower their ratings of this place because the restaurant is not on the water. That was no problem... More

Breakfast in a Shotglass, Lobster Tacos, and the kids were happy too? This was one of my favorite dinners on the island and the prices are reasonable too. Hot Tip...sign up about an hour before you are hungry...the wait was miserable because we were already really starving!! :)

Great food and good service. Everyone loved their meal and appreciated the birthday cake. Will go everytime we are on the island.

This is not a fancy place but it does and a sort of fun décor and a lot of island character. The service was good but it was the food and reasonable prices (for the area) that will and has kept us coming back. The lobster roll was not outstanding but was good. The linguini and clams in cream sauce... More

If you have the time to sit, this is a fun place to visit and they serve very generous portions of fish. Service was a little slow but worth the wait for the food you get. The location is down one of the streets and is not across from the beach so if you are looking for a view this... More

You may not know it, but the Lobster Trap sells fresh fish to take home and cook yourself. I purchased swordfish yesterday and brought it back to the boat to grill. It was wonderful! So fresh and spoon good!
